May 27th - GAME #52 vs Pittsburgh Pirates (23-27)
Jon Niese (3-3) vs Edinson Volquez (2-4) The Mets today fired batting coach Dave Hudgens for the poor hitting results of the team. He has been replaced with Lamar Johnson, who has been in the Mets organization for 11 years. And in a move I figured was going to happen after yesterday's weak attempt at major league pitching, Jose Valverde was released. YEAH! After a good effort in his first game Valverde continued to show his days in the show were over.

Some great defense in this game starting with Juan Lagares' catch at the top of the fence in the first off the bat of the Pirates Andrew McCutchen. The favor was returned by McCutchen in the bottom of the inning as he dove and robbed Juan of a hit. Ruben Tejada made a couple nice plays at short. Jon Neise was cruising along until his 3 walks in the sixth did him in and allowed the Pirates to tie the game. Lagares, Murph, and Tejada had two hits apiece. Jenrry Mejia kept his grip on the closer role with a 6 out save.
I must say that I love watching the Mets on the new TV. Just a beautiful picture and baseball never looked so good. Especially when they win. I played some video games until the game was over, then watched the archive game. MLB.tv seems to be working much better lately with less and less buffering and signal loss. I actually fell asleep during the eighth inning and missed the top of the ninth.
