Game one of Skid's season at Citi. May 26th - GAME #51 vs Pittsburgh Pirates (22-27)
Jacob deGrom (0-2) vs Brandon Cumpton (0-1). The Mets put OF Eric Young on the DL with a strained right hamstring and brought up OF Matt den Dekker from AAA Las Vegas. Las Vegas placed right-hander Noah Syndergaard on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 22, with a flexor-pronator strain in his right arm. I just saw him pitch last week on the 21st! Let's hope it is nothing serious as this type of injury can lead to elbow trouble.

22-28

Jacob deGroom was the Mets best player today. Better than Scott Rice, who gave up a homer in his 2/3 of an inning. Better than Jose Valverde who gave up 4 hits, a walk & 4 runs in his 2/3 of an inning. Better than Bobby Abreu, who went 2 for 4 with a double. Better than Lucas Duda who went 2 for 4 with a Home Run. Better than David Wright, who went 0 for 4 to end his nine game hitting streak. Jacob deGroom went 2 for 2 with a run scored and he pitched 6-2/3 innings of shutout ball. For naught.

A nice quiet Memorial Day off work, sitting under the cool air conditioner while the temperature outside is rising to the mid 90's. First a couple cups of coffee, a breakfast sandwich, later a diet Mt. Dew and some beef taquitos. I watched the game while trying to catch up on my site. Laborious. The Mets have lost nine of their last twelve games. Not a fun streak and the upcoming road trip doesn't look better. Game is over, site updated, I'm going to play video games and enjoy the rest of my day.

Remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
