Secret Shadow welcomes you to this site with its wonders of poetry written by the host of Secret Shadow, Irina Mann.

For those who are interested in poetry, you will find that this site by reading it is based on life and issues of every day living. Some may be more fictional dealing with a world of fantasy. I have mixed our world of reality with those of fantasy because I want you to feel the contrast between those two. These two issues are very different yet are somehow related to one another. These worlds are connected through poetry. By sharing feelings of our inner self with the same feelings of our outer self, we discover through words on paper what those two things are. We also discover that without those two elements, we would go crazy because in our world of reality, it can be acknowledged that it is harsh and things never happen the way it is suppose to be and by looking at our fantasy, we get to dream of things we wish; our desire to have a purpose in life. When our thoughts are connected with the reality, we discover that we are the best we can be and go out there in the real world and face our challenges. That is how success is brought to us.

For those who are clueless when it comes to poetry, just have this one thought in mind. What would it be like if you had no emotions and no one to turn to when things happens to you let it be good or bad? It doesn’t matter whether we share a sense of joy or a sense of sadness, we need to share these feelings to the world and that is what poetry happens to be about; self-expression. It reveals and unlocks the door that makes us feel unbelievable things like love and pain. It makes us think of what else is there to find about ourselves. There is always something new to find out about our identity. Poetry brings life to our souls and opens up our eyes when we are too blind to see. So just take one moment to close your eyes and breathe slowly then take one by one a part of your body and let your mind express itself. Or just look at the environment for a moment and let your senses take away your emotions. It’s a sensation that states, “Words cannot describe what I am feeling.” For the sake of learning about yourself, take a poem and read it and try to understand what that person must have been through that moment when he or she had written it. By putting yourself in those shoes, you get to realize things about life.

I find one thing interesting about poetry though; everyone starts it at some stage of life especially when they go through a time of self-discovery and confusion. They just have so much to say and want to share it on paper. Have you ever took a moment and say to yourself, “You know what, poetry is just like therapy.” By letting things come out in the open and expressing it out, you get to feel better about yourself. You get to realize new things in life and that yes you can live through another day. All of that can happen through poetry.

What therefore have I been saying through this passage is that there is a lot to learn from it just by reading and understanding. It’s an art form only instead of it being painted it is written but the symbolism between those two are the same. It’s a self-expression the artists go through; they see something and are inspired by that and wish for the world to know their vision. I am sharing with you my vision; my vision of life. I thought it was better all of this to be where people can see it than have it closed in a book where all it could ever be is words on paper.
