High Potential Blue Chip Girls Camp June 28th

I spent all day Wednesday June 28th at Mid-America East Sports Complex in Louisville observing this camp and will add several blogs over the next week concerning this event.  My first blog will consist of my personal thoughts on several of the girls at this camp.

Deborah Davenport – 6-2 Sr. Woodward Cincinnati OH has all the physical attributes; tall, athletic, and quick and has the ability to run the floor and score either inside or out.

Kuryn Brunson – 5-10 Sr. Franklin IN is strong, athletic, and can score either inside or out.

Emma Barnett – 6-0 Jr. Mercy Academy Louisville KY has the length and athletic ability to score in a variety of ways and has good range on her shot.

Camryn Runner – 5-7 So. Hamilton Heights Arcadia IN is one of the top underclassmen in the Hoosier state and has good skills.

Evie Darnell – 5-10 Sr. Rossview Clarksville TN is fundamentally sound, shoots well, and can get to the rim.

Maddie Kauffman – 5-5 Sr. Tates Creek Lexington KY has the ability to score points in bunches and has good range on her shot and can get into the lane to score.

Kyera Thornsbury – 5-7 So. Belfry KY came into this camp with a lofty reputation and it was well deserved as she is a very well rounded player with the complete skill package to be at this point in her career.

Shelia “Marissa” Douglas – 5-8 So. Whitley County Williamsburg KY is a strong guard with good range on her jump shot.

Allison Spieker – 5-7 So. Whitefield Academy Louisville KY is another youngster with the ability to score on a jump shot with range.

Kennedy Wenger – 5-11 Jr. Mater Dei Evansville IN is a very active inside scorer.

Carlie Thurmond – 5-7 So. Bethlehem Bardstown KY is a good young floor general who can score as well as direct the offense.

Jada Patton – 5-11 Sr. Penn Mishawaka IN scores off dribble and finishes strong at the rim.

Brittany Campbell – 5-5 Fr. Madison Central Richmond KY is a prototypical point guard who sees the floor, looks for the open man, scores off penetration or with her jump shot.

Brooke Campbell – 5-5 Fr. Madison Central Richmond KY is a deadly long range shooter who rebounds very well for her size.

Allison Wallace – 5-9 Sr. Frederick Douglass Lexington KY is a strong wing player who scores off her jump shot.

Cameryn Ridderikhoff – 5-9 Fr. Franklin County Frankfort KY put on an exhibition of three point shooting with her range appearing to extend to the Gene Snyder Parkway.  Once she adds consistent scoring off the dribble could be unstoppable.

Briante Gowdy – 5-5 Sr. Campbellsville KY is a quick ball handler who can get to the rim in a hurry.

Jackie Crews – 5-7 Jr. Paoli IN is a very sound guard and a strong finisher.

Juliana Frazee – 6-1 Fr. Franklin County Frankfort KY is a promising young post player who gets results on both ends of the floor.

Chesney Lovins – 5-9 Jr. Berea, KY impressed observers at camp with her excellent all around game.

MacKenzie Karo – 5-7 Sr. Woodford County Versailles, KY is a much improved player with good skills and appears poised for a good senior campaign.

Emma Price – 5-4 Sr. Scott County Georgetown KY is a streaky shooter who scores points in bunches with her deadly jump shot.

Cassidy Morris – 5-10 Sr. Trinity Whitesville KY don’t go to sleep on this girl; she can play the game.

I will add more thoughts on several other players this week as well as adding all camp teams, award winners, and other observers thoughts on some of the players.

There were many outstanding players in this venue and several had excellent games.  I have included some names but understand there were many others that impressed this week end.  Chase Keen (2023) (Dublin Coffman), Jon Mills (East Ridge), 5-9 (2024) Blake Reed (Bracken County), 5-11 (2023) Colin Porter (Ashland Blazer) tallied 41 points in one game, 6-1 (2022) Ethan Sellars (Ashland Blazer), 6-8 (2022) Christian Collins (Breathitt County), 6-3 (2025) Austin Sperry (Breathitt County), 6-0 (2022) Anthony Hersch (Capital), 6-3 (2022) Isaac McKneely (Poca), 6-1 (2023) Will Herald (Highlands) recorded 48 points including 10 three point baskets in one game, 6-1 (2023) Nate Mitchell (Mason County), 6-1 (2022) Ajay Sheldon (Dublin Coffman), and (2022) Rheyce DeBoard (Boyd County).  6-2 (2022) Cole Villers has always been a key performer for Ashland Blazer. Villers averaged 23.0 ppg last season and is a deadly shooter.

Coach Mays and his staff did an excellent job with this event and under his direction will only get better and bigger.  Also the website did an excellent job with the score updates and Coach Mays was very informative and provided a lot of info about the event

Madison Central Girls Basketball at Georgetown Team Camp

Georgetown College

Georgetown, KY

June 14-16, 2021

Madison Central attended the Georgetown College Team Count on June 14-16, 2021 and went 11-4 in the fifteen varsity games they played.  Madison Central enters the season with a young but talented squad and appears to have a bright future.  I watched several of their games and have added some of my personal observations on the players I observed.  They were missing some players due to injuries or other obligations.

5-4 2025 Nataya Strader is quick athletic, can get to the rim and when she sets her feet has an excellent shooting stroke.  5-6 2025 Brittany Campbell has excellent court vision and is a true point guard who will find the open person.  She can get to the rim and has a nice outside shot.  5-6 2025 Brooke Campbell is an excellent long range shooter, a ferocious rebounder for size, and is now scoring off the dribble.  5-10 2024 Bailey Hensley has all the physical attributes, quick, athletic, and can jump.  Bailey scores at will inside, has an improving jump shot, and works hard on the boards.  5-6 2025 Tiana Long is a “glue” player who does a little of everything and always gets results on the court.  5-4 2023 Eve Carter is strong, athletic, and has great anticipation on defense.  Eve gets to the rim and scores on a “floater” that is difficult to defend.  5-6 2024 Eden Carter is quick, strong. athletic, and is a tireless worker.  5-7 2024 Olivia Metcalfe is very athletic with excellent potential.  5-9 2022 Kessaney Melton transferred from Rowan County is a strong inside player who pounds the board and can finish in the paint and has a nice shooting touch.  Other players will contribute once the season starts and the ones that are rehabbing injuries recover.  This is a young team that has a lot of potential and despite their youth have logged serious varsity minutes and are experienced basketball wise beyond their years.
