UPGRADE

The Lycos network that hosts the angelfire websites which I have my basketball and football site notified me that there will be a major upgrade to their sites between October 28-31, 2016 which means kyprephoops.com and prepgridiron will be unavailable during this period.  Hopefully this will be a simple upgrade without any lasting issues but only time will tell.  Lycos also hosts my blog which will probably be unavailable.  I hope to be back up as soon as possible.

Simon Kenton vs. Ryle

Ryle High School
Union, KY
October 21, 2016

© 2016 by Ron Harrison

When both teams enter the game undefeated at 8-0 something has to give.  Ryle scored early in the game on a 10 yard touchdown pass from Tanner Morgan to Zach Cusick and the Raiders never gave up the lead.  Simon Kenton battled throughout the game but once they failed to covert late in the game on a fourth- down play Ryle was able to run out the clock and escape with a 32-25 victory.  Ryle ran for 211 yards and threw for 261 yards for a total of 472 yards.  Simon Kenton ran for 95 yards and threw for 160 yards for a total of 255 yards.  The Ryle defense starred tonight as they managed to hold the high octane Simon Kenton offense in check and made several key defensive stops tonight.  Simon Kenton’s defense had their moments especially on a goal line stand in the second quarter which led to a 96 yard touchdown pass that cut the deficit to 15-14.

Jake Chisholm led Ryle’s ground game with 174 yards and a touchdown on 30 caries.  Tanner Morgan completed 20 of 30 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.  Easton Pilyer caught three passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.  Bryce Ashley added six receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown.  Jackson High led the defense with nine solo and three assisted tackles.  Justin Selby added six solo and one assisted tackles.  Zach Rytlewski recorded six solo tackles and intercepted a pass and Charles Golden chipped in with three solo and three assisted tackles.

Dylan Hampton led Simon Kenton’s ground game with 57 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.  Jon Sergent carried the ball four times for 31 yards.  Cameron Racke completed five of 15 passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.  Matt Shearer completed three of 11 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown with one interception.  Luke Vance caught four passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns.  Logan Kriedenweis caught one pass for 18 yards.  Brian Carter led the defense with 10 solo and three assisted tackles.  Gavin Ball added seven solo and two assisted tackles and intercepted a pass he returned 34 yards.  Elijah Johnson recorded four solo and four assisted tackles.
