Scott County vs. Covington Catholic

Scott County improves to 8-2 with a 35-28 victory over a good Covington Catholic team whose record falls to 7-3 for the season. Scott County took a 28-7 lead in the late in the second quarter but Covington Catholic rallied to tie the score at 28-28 late in the third quarter. Scott County recorded 16 first downs and 355 yards of total offense. The Cardinals were penalized four times for 40 yards and lost a fumble. Covington Catholic recorded 19 first downs and 321 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized four times for 41 yards.
Jacob Burton led Scott County’s ground game with 103 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. Brice Fryman carried the ball 12 times for 100 yards and a touchdown. Josh Davis completed three of four passes for 41 yards. Cade McKee completed one of two passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. Brice Fryman caught two passes for 95 yards and a touchdown. Landon Easley caught one pass for 22 yards. Josh Davis scored on a 40 yard blocked punt return. Brance McKinney led the defense with four solo and five assisted tackles. Berk Watts added two solo and nine assisted tackles. Cooper Robb recorded four solo and two assisted tackles. Bryan Hudson added three solo and three assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.
Casey McGinness led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 94 yards on 20 carries. AJ Mayer carried the ball 13 times for 43 yards and a touchdown. AJ Mayer completed eight of 17 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Sam Schuh caught two passes for 61 yards. Malachi Pike added two receptions for 24 yards. Anthony Best caught two passes for 20 yards and a touchdown. Josh Newman added a 42 yard scoring reception. Casey McGinness returned four kickoffs for 100 yards with a long return of 28 yards. Alex Shelton led the defense with four solo and five assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 13 yards. Jack Maile added four solo and three assisted tackles. Ben France also recorded four solo and three assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling eight yards. Adam Schneider recovered a fumble.
