Nature provided first the heat delay than a lightning delay and Southwestern’s Drew Sawyers provided more thunder and lightning with a 95 yard kickoff return on the opening play of the game to spark the Warriors to a 26-7 victory over Madison Central.  Southwestern recorded 17 first downs and 295 yards of total offense.  The Warriors were penalized nine times for 67 yards and lost two fumbles.  Madison Central recorded 11 first downs and 206 yards of total offense.  The Indians were penalized six times for 50 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Drew Sawyers led Southwestern’s ground game with 157 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.  Chase Doan carried the ball 14 times for 76 yards.  Austin Barnes added 24 yards and a touchdown on six carries.  Drew Sawyers completed five of six passes for 36 yards.  Drew Sawyers returned two kickoffs for 107 yards with a touchdown return of 95 yards.  Austin Barnes led the defense with four solo and seven assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a six yard loss.  Kenny Robinson added five solo and four assisted tackles.  Mason Parsons recovered a fumble and Dylan Bland intercepted a pass he returned for 25 yards.

Derrick Miller led Madison Central’s ground game with 61 yards on nine carries.  Freddie Chenault carried the ball 18 times for 55 yards and a touchdown.  Derrick Miller completed 10 of 16 passes for 79 yards with one interception.  Ben Snapp caught three passes for 34 yards.  Ethan Hahn added three receptions for 25 yards.  Ben Snapp returned one kickoff for 38 yards.  Jackson Juett led the defense with four solo and 10 assisted tackles.  Ben Snapp added five solo and one assisted tackles and recovered a fumble he returned for 10 yards.  John Collins recorded four solo and one assisted tackles.  Sawyer Cruse also recovered a fumble.

Eastern Kentucky University pulled away in the second half to take a commanding 42-7 lead over Morehead State on their way to a 49-23 victory.  The Colonels utilized a powerful ground game tonight recording 404 net yards and four touchdowns on 61 carries for a 6.6 yard per carry.  EKU recorded 29 first downs and 564 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized seven times for 67 yards and lost a fumble.  Morehead State recorded 15 first downs and 332 yards of total offense.  The Eagles were penalized four times for 45 yards and had two passes intercepted.

Daryl McCleskey led EKU’s ground game with 125 yards on 14 carries.  LJ Scott carried the ball 14 times for 86 yards and two touchdowns.  Jason Lewis added 70 yards on 10 carries.  Ralph Patton recorded 42 yards on six carries.  Alonzo Booth carried the ball five times for 30 yards and a touchdown.  Ellis Cain added 18 yards and a touchdown on four carries.  Dakota Allen completed nine of 14 passes for 93 yards and a touchdown.  Austin Scott completed four of eight passes for 13 yards and a touchdown.  Alphonso Howard completed both his passes for 54 yards.  Jaelin Carter caught three passes for 11 yards.  Jackson Beerman added two receptions for 31 yards.  Neiko Creamer recorded two receptions for 20 yards.  Dan Paul caught two passes for 18 yards and two touchdowns.  Dakota Allen and Ethan Bradds added one reception each for 28 and 26 yards respectively.  BK Smith returned three punts for 34 yards with a long return of 20 yards.  LJ Scott returned two kickoffs for 66 yards including a long return of 35 yards.  Matthew Jackson led the defense with two solo and five assisted tackles.  Gavin Bryant added three solo and three assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling eight yards.  Aaron Patrick recorded two solo and one assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 14 yards.  Josh Hayes and Dillon Denault each intercepted a pass.

Jovan Smith led Morehead State’s ground game with 54 yards and a touchdown on eight carries.  Issiah Aguero carried the ball six times for 21 yards and two touchdowns.  Lawson Page completed 20 of 34 passes for 221 yards with two interceptions.  Landon Hurst caught four passes for 44 yards.  Jordan Huffman added three receptions for 53 yards.  DeVonte Adams caught three passes for 22 yards.  J. Higginbotham, Kyle Gilbert, Sugar Ray Wyche Jr., and Cortney Laye each caught two passes for 29, 23, 22, and 19 yards respectively.  Issiah Aguero returned two kickoffs for 45 yards including a long return of 25 yards.  Aaron Turk returned three kickoffs for 60 yards with a long return of 30 yards.  Jamil Butler led the defense with two solo and seven assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards.  Sayyid Kanu added three solo and five assisted tackles.  Eldee Edwards III and Brandyn Duncan each recorded three solo and four assisted tackles.

Pikeville dominated play tonight in a 50-7 victory over Lexington Christian Academy.  QB Connor Roberts passed for four touchdowns and ran for two other scores to lead the victors.  Pikeville recorded 19 first downs and 399 yards of total offense.  They were penalized three times for 45 yards and lost a fumble.  Lexington Christian Academy recorded eight first downs and 162 yards of total offense.  The Eagles were penalized three times for 35 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.

Connor Roberts led Pikeville’s ground game with 122 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.  Zack Roberts added 42 yards on 10 carries.  Connor Roberts completed five of right passes for 146 yards and four touchdowns.  Isaac McNamee completed three of four passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.  Jackson Hensley caught five passes for 146 yards and four touchdowns.  Christian Billiter caught a 54 yard touchdown pass.  Jackson Hensley returned two kickoffs for 60 yards.  Brody Birchfield led the defense with four solo tackles.  Kaden Caudill added three solo and two assisted tackles. 

Xavier Brown led Lexington Christian Academy’s ground game with 22 yards on two carries.  Jayden Barnhardt completed 11 of 23 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.  DeArious Smith caught four passes for 84 yards.  Blane Hardin added two receptions for 32 yards.  Will Vernon caught five passes for 22 yards including a touchdown.  Ben Whitman led the defense with four solo and three assisted tackles.  Drew Long added one solo and eight assisted tackles.

Anderson County outscored Meade County 10-0 in the final quarter to pull away for a 34-19 victory.  Anderson County recorded 17 first downs and 332 yards of total offense.  The Bearcats were penalized 10 times for 90 yards and lost a fumble.  Meade County recorded 15 first downs and 280 yards of total offense.  They were penalized seven times for 54 yards and had a pass intercepted.

Brennon Maxberry led Anderson County’s ground game with 110 yards on 21 carries.  Charles Collins carried the ball 15 times for 58 yards and a touchdown.  Zach Labhart carried the ball once for 42 yards and a touchdown.  Jagger Gillis completed 10 of 14 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns.  Charles Collins caught three passes for 44 yards.  Justin Wilhoit added two receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown.  Wesley Ruehrwein added two receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown.  Colton Cornish led the defense with five solo and five assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling six yards and intercepted a pass he returned 32 yards.  Justin Wilhoit added five solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 12 yards.

Zach Carter led Meade County’s ground game with 112 yards on eight carries.  Cole Miller carried the ball eight times for 64 yards and a touchdown.  Deshawn Welch recorded 54 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.  Kobe Nikolao added eight yards and a touchdown on four carries.  Trent Mofield completed five of 19 passes for 61 yards with one interception.  Cole Miller caught three passes for 20 yards.  Mitchell Dozier added two receptions for 41 yards.  Elijah McCune punted twice for a 42 yard average.  Zach Carter led the defense with seven solo and three assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling two yards.  JT Godsey added four solo and four assisted tackles.  Nathan Holley recorded four solo and three assisted tackles.  Will Millay recovered a fumble.

Beau Allen threw seven touchdown passes to lead Lexington Catholic to a 50-34 victory over Ryle.  Lexington Catholic 50-14 with 4:37 left in the third quarter but Ryle continued to battle and ended the game on a 20-0 run.  Ryle’s chances were hampered as their star RB Kyle England went out with an injury in the first half and did not return.  England had 138 yards including a 77 yard touchdown run on 14 carries before he left the game.  Lexington Catholic recorded 25 first downs and 499 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized eight times for 61 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.  Ryle recorded 16 first downs and 412 yards of total offense.  The Raiders were penalized nine times for 96 yards, lost three fumbles, and had two passes intercepted.

Beau Allen led Lexington Catholic’s ground game with 73 yards on nine carries.  Ryan Nichols carried the ball six times for 45 yards.  Beau Allen completed 23 of 31 passes for 357 yards and seven touchdowns.  Nathan Schnurr caught six passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.  Jackson Corbett added five receptions for 102 yards and three touchdowns.  Trenton Neuer recorded five receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns.  Tommy Knopp caught three passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.  Brennan Emnett led the defense with four solo and two assisted tackles.  Henry Holthaus added four solo and one assisted tackles and intercepted a pass.  Ryan Gallagher and Jackson Corbett each recovered a fumble and Dylan Bracken intercepted a pass.

Kyle England led Ryle’s ground game with 138 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.  Jake Smith carried the ball six times for 41 yards.  Jake Smith completed six of 15 passes for 82 yards with two interceptions.  Keegan Stanken completed four of four passes for 131 yards and one touchdown.  Brandon Soden caught three passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.  Vince Rankin added three receptions for 39 yards.  Stefan Clarkson recorded two receptions for 61 yards.  Caden Mogge returned three kickoffs for 53 yards with a long return of 27 yards.  Max Inabit returned three kickoffs for 50 yards with a long return of 17 yards.  Jonathan Coker returned three kickoffs for 43 yards with a long return of 18 yards.  Luke Bradshaw led the defense with three solo and six assisted tackles.  Jackson Saladin added four solo and two assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards.  Caden Mogge recorded four solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss.  Cooper White added four solo tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling two yards and recovered a fumble he returned 12 yards.  Morgan Rabe scored on a 31 yard interception return.

Covington Catholic held Henry Clay to three first downs and 71 yards of total offense in a 41-0 shutout of the Blue Devils.  Covington Catholic led 38-0 at halftime and substituted liberally in the second half.  Covington Catholic recorded 16 first downs and 313 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized six times for 64 yards and lost one fumble.  Henry Clay recorded three first downs and 71 yards of total offense.  Henry Clay was held to a net -8 yards on 13 carries on the ground.  The Blue devils were penalized four times for 30 yards, lost two fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.

C. McGinness led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 137 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.  C. Jacob completed 11 of 14 passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns.  M. Mayer caught six passes for 78 yards and two touchdowns.  Z. Coburn added three receptions for 28 yards.  D. Summe caught a 36 yard touchdown pass.  Hemmer led the defense with three solo and two assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a seven yard loss.  Schwartz added one solo and five assisted tackles.  D. Summe intercepted a pass and Z. Coburn recovered a fumble which he returned 13 yards for a touchdown.

Mussa Kaluta led henry Clay’s ground game with 15 yards on two carries.  DJ VanHorn completed nine of 21 passes for 79 yards with one interception.  Langston Jackson caught four passes for 29 yards.  Jordan Kimball added one reception for 31 yards.  Langston Jackson returned six kickoffs for 109 yards with a long return of 30 yards.  Ramond Jackson led the defense with six solo tackles.  Chris Dabney added three solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 13 yards.

Madison Central defeated Woodford County by a score of 38-6.  Madison Central recorded 17 first downs and 336 yards of total offense.  The Indians were penalized four times for 53 yards and lost two fumbles.  Woodford County recorded seven first downs and 160 yards of total offense.  The Yellowjackets were penalized eight times for 67 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.

Freddie Chenault led Madison Central’s ground attack with 153 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries.  Derrick Miller carried the ball five times for 61 yards.  Derrick Miller completed five of 12 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns.  Ben Snapp caught two passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.  Cody Dillon added two receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown.  Jackson Juett led the defense with one solo and five assisted tackles.  Bennie Hurt added two solo and three assisted tackles.  Ben Snapp intercepted a pass he returned for 48 yards.  Deashon Gowdey also intercepted a pass and Julius Dray recovered a fumble.

Brennan Clark led Woodford County’s ground game with 91 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.  Kameron Sunbom completed two of 14 passes for 39 yards with two interceptions.  Skyelar Johnson caught one pass for 26 yards.  Leo Guadagni added one reception for 13 yards.  Leo Guadagni returned one punt for 57 yards and returned three kickoffs for 74 yards including a long return of 30 yards.  Amartae Rice led the defense with four solo and two assisted tackles.  Wyatt Andreoni added three solo and three assisted tackles.  Lucas Brocato recorded three solo and one assisted tackles and recovered two fumbles.

Lafayette took a 28-27 early in the third quarter but Scott County rallied behind their potent ground game to defeat Lafayette by a score of 59-28.  Scott County recorded 33 first downs and 642 yards of total offense.  Scott County recorded 601 yards and eight touchdowns on 78 carries.  They ran 86 offensive plays compared to 46 for Lafayette.  The Cardinals were penalized seven times for 93 yards and lost two fumbles.  Lafayette recorded 10 first downs and 247 yards of total offense.  The Generals were penalized six times for 30 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.

Bronson Brown led Scott County’s ground game with 239 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.  Austin Barnett carried the ball 29 times for 216 yards and six touchdowns.  Payton Brown added 126 yards on 15 carries.  Cade McKee completed three of eight passes for 41 yards.  Glenn Covington caught three passes for 41 yards.  Bryan Hudson led the defense with three solo and two assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling three yards.  Sam Daniel added three solo and two assisted tackles.  C. Carter recovered a fumble and Matt Fannin and Glenn Covington each intercepted a pass.

Drake Nelson led Lafayette’s ground game with one carry for five yards.  Quinton Turner completed five of 18 passes for 146 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions.  Drake Nelson completed four of nine passes for 108 yards and one touchdown.  TeAndre Newcomb caught two passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.  JC Shegog added two receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown.  John Combs caught two passes for 41 yards.  TeAndre Newcomb returned six kickoffs for 140 yards including a 95 yard return for a touchdown.  Malik Bryant led the defense with eight solo and three assisted tackles.  Jaylen Lawson added seven solo and five assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling six yards.  Tyler Moore and Gage Slone each recovered a fumble.

Southwestern held Paul Laurence Dunbar to 82 yards of total offense including a net -15 yards on the ground in a 28-7 victory.  Southwestern recorded 18 first downs and 314 yards of total offense.  The Warriors were penalized 11 times for 101 yards.  Paul Laurence Dunbar recorded four first downs and 82 yards of total offense.  The Bulldogs were penalized three times for 20 yards and had a pass intercepted.

Austin Barnes led Southwestern’s ground game with 86 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries.  Mason Parsons carried the ball 10 times for 59 yards and a touchdown.  Drew Sawyers recorded 56 yards on six carries.  JP Vaught carried the ball 11 times for 39 yards.  Drew Sawyers completed seven of 17 passes for 68 yards.  JP Vaught caught three passes for 31 yards.  Dylan Bland added three receptions for seven yards.  Austin Barnes led the defense with seven solo tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 16 yards.  Mason Parsons added five solo and three assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.  Josh Williams recorded three solo and four assisted tackles with 3.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 12 yards.  Luke Gregory chipped in with three solo and two assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling six yards.  Christian Bach added two solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 11 yards and intercepted a pass he returned 19 yards.

Josiah Brown led Dunbar’s ground game with 14 yards on three carries.  Tanner Cox completed six of 10 passes for 97 yards and one touchdown with an interception.  J. Robinson caught five passes for 91 yards and a touchdown.  Landon Jackson returned one punt for 39 yards and Mitchell Joseph added a punt return for 41 yards.  James-Guettler led the defense with five solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 13 yards.  Nate Thomas added five solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 10 yards.  Mason Haggard recorded five solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a five yard loss.
