Apollo 47  Muhlenberg County 12 – Mariano McKenzie carried the ball 18 times for 177 yards and four touchdowns.

 

Pineville 50  Leslie County 12 – Matt Golden carried the ball 14 times for 237 yards and four touchdowns to lead Pineville.

 

Pulaski County 48  Northwest (Clarksville) TN 39 – Wiley Cain completed 27 of 39 passes for 305 yards and five touchdowns to lead Pulaski County.  Grant Oakes caught nine passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns.

 

Southwestern 50  Jeffersonville IN 7 – Drew Sawyers completed five of eight passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns to lead Southwestern. 

 

Anderson County 41  George Rogers Clark 0 – Charles Collins carried the ball seven times for 103 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns.  Zach Labhart carried the ball nine times for 105 yards and two touchdowns and also was a force on defense.  Colton Cornish recorded 10 solo and six assisted tackles on defense.

 

South Laurel 30  North Laurel 8 – Ace Allen carried the ball 17 times for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

 

Bourbon County 26  Clay County 13 – CaMarr Myers carried the ball 24 times for 197 yards and three touchdowns to lead Bourbon County.

 

Scott County 56  North Bullitt 13 – Scott County led 49-0 at halftime.

 

Butler 49  Bullitt East 0 – Chaz Burks completed seven of eight passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns.  Eric Jackson carried the ball seven times for 166 yards and three touchdowns.

 

Campbell County 34  Dixie Heights 3 – Andrew Helton completed 15 of 27 passes for 338 yards and four touchdowns.  Reid Jolly caught six passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns.

 

Carmel IN 24  Louisville Trinity 21 – Carmel IN ended Trinity’s 30 game winning streak tonight.

Daviess County 49  Owensboro Catholic 26 – Joey Camron passed for 307 yards and accounted for five touchdowns tonight.

 

Central 18  DuPont Manual 0 – U’Kari Baker scored on a 96 yard kickoff return and added a 49 yard scoring reception.

 

Christian Academy of Louisville 21  South Oldham 3 – Milton Wright caught five passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns.

 

Covington Catholic 40  Ryle 7 – C. Jacob completed 12 of 15 passes for 294 yards and two touchdowns and Casey McGinness carried the ball 13 times for 118 yards and four touchdowns.

 

Eastern 44  Iroquois 20 – Elijah Irvine carried the ball 14 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns to lead Eastern.

 

DeSales 19 St. Xavier 16 – Class 2A power notched a big victory over 6A power St. Xavier tonight for their first victory over the Tigers since 1986.

 

Floyd Central 44  Harlan 6 – Josh Whitaker carried the ball 16 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns to lead Floyd Central.

 

Franklin County 27  Western Hills 20 – Ameer Lee ran for two touchdowns to lead Franklin County to a victory.  Western Hills was led by Wandale Robinson who carried the ball 27 times for 215 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 75 yard touchdown pass.

 

Henry Clay 50  Tates Creek 22 – DJ VanHorn completed seven of 10 passes for 249 yards and four touchdowns.  Langston Jackson caught two passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns and scored on an interception return while Ramond Jackson caught three passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns and also scored on a kickoff return.

 

Harrison County 47  Fleming County 6 – Chase Blanton carried the ball 18 times for 200 yards and four touchdowns.

 

Male 41  Floyd Central (Floyds Knobs) IN 3 – Garrett Dennis completed 13 of 17 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns and carried the ball 15 times for 74 yards and a touchdown.

 

Oldham County 37  Henry County 0 – Lucas Jones carried the ball eight times for 163 yards and a touchdown.

 

Mayfield 43  Union City TN 27 – Jayden Stinson threw for 221 yards and four touchdowns to lead Mayfield.

Football fans, the first week is in the books and when is the last time that 6A powers Louisville Trinity and St. Xavier lost on the same Friday night?  Some teams appeared to be clicking on all cylinders while others are rebuilding and putting the pieces together early in the season due to graduation losses.  Let us recognize and appreciate all the hard work the stats crews, sports reporters, newspapers, websites such as Bluegrass Preps, Riherds.com, and the radio and television crews do covering this game we love and follow.  Also, a special thanks to the players, coaches, parents, and trainers that give so unselfishly of their time and talents.  Also, a special note of appreciation to all the stat crews that send me the stat package after the games and friends and acquaintances who keep me updated on scores and insights on many of the games and to the scoreboard shows on radio and television who give us timely results.

There was a lot of pre-season hype about Frederick Douglass in the pre-season and they led up to the advance billing tonight with a 48-10 over Wayne County.  Transfer QB Cameron Jones lived up to his press clippings as he threw for five touchdowns tonight to lead the Broncos.  Frederick Douglass recorded 14 first downs and 392 yards of total offense.  The Broncos were penalized six ties for 71 yards and lost a fumble.  Wayne County recorded seven first downs and 133 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized once for 15 yards, lost a fumble, and had three passes intercepted.

Haiden Hunt led Frederick Douglass’ ground game with 58 yards and a touchdown on two carries.  D. Fishback carried the ball seven times for 40 yards.  Cameron Jones completed 14 of 18 passes for 286 yards and five touchdowns.  Dekel Crowdus caught five passes for 110 yards and three touchdowns.  Haiden Hunt added four receptions for 72 yards.  D. Fishback added two receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown.  Montaveon Bean caught two passes for 41 yards and a touchdown.  Daiyaan Perkins led the defense with four solo tackles and intercepted a pass he returned 83 yards for a touchdown.  Ty Bryant added two solo and two assisted tackles.  Jaylin Bybee recorded two solo and one assisted tackles and intercepted a pass he returned 44 yards.  Gabe Hilyard also intercepted a pass and R. Thompson recovered a fumble.

Braedon Sloan led Wayne County’s ground game with 46 yards on 14 carries.  Brody Weaver completed four of 19 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions.  Aubrey Weaver caught two passes for 16 yards and a touchdown.  Braedon Sloan caught one pass for 51 yards.  Braedon Sloan also returned one kickoff for 65 yards.  Aubrey Weaver led the defense with five solo tackles.  Caleb Bridgeman added three solo and two assisted tackles.  Bryce Howard recovered a fumble he returned 41 yards.

Madison Central dominated statistically tonight and pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Collins 23-7.  Madison Central recorded 18 first downs and 355 yards of total offense.  The Indians were penalized eight times for 64 yards and lost two fumbles.  Collins recorded six first downs and 116 yards of total offense.  They were penalized six times for 29 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Freddie Chenault led Madison Central’s ground game with 151 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.  Ethan Hahn added 79 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.  Derrick Miller carried the ball 10 times for 68 yards.  Derrick Miller completed four of 11 passes for 52 yards.  Ethan Hahn caught twp passes for 32 yards.  Jackson Juett led the defense with three solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 17 yards.  Deashon Gowdey added two solo and three assisted tackles.  Ben Pinson recovered a fumble and Nate Storie intercepted a pass he returned 24 yards.

Jaden Wilson led Collins’ ground game with 18 yards on five carries.  Jacoby Evans carried the ball 10 times for 13 yards.  Joe Lucas completed five of 18 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown with one interception.  Mikalii Stoner caught three passes for 94 yards and a touchdown.  A. Bradford led the defense with eight solo and six assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.  DJ Webb added five solo and four assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.

Aaron Pfaadt scored on a one yard run with 3:53 left in the game to give DeSales a 19-16 lead and Cameron Perry recovered a St. Xavier fumble with 2:37 left to ensure this historic victory over 6A power St. Xavier.  This was DeSales first victory over St. Xavier since 1986.  DeSales took advantage of four St. Xavier turnovers and got a big touchdown on a 34 yard touchdown pass from Aaron Pfaadt to Antione Johnson in the final seconds of the first half to give DeSales a 13-3 lead at halftime.  St. Xavier rallied to take a 16-13 lead on a 74 yard pass from Doug Bodhaine to Andre Coleman with 10:04 left in the game.  However DeSales had their own rally left and went 86 yards on 14 plays ending with Aaron Pfaadt’s touchdown run which proved be the game winner.  DeSales recorded 17 first downs and 235 yards of total offense.  The Colts were penalized seven times for 51 yards and had a pass intercepted.  St. Xavier recorded 13 first downs and 313 yards of total offense.  The Tigers were penalized five times for 54 yards, lost two fumbles, and had two passes intercepted.

Dar. Hollenkamp led DeSales ground game with 61 yards on 15 carries.  Antione Johnson added 38 yards on 13 carries.  Aaron Pfaadt carried the ball 10 times for a net three yards and two touchdowns.  Pfaadt also completed eight of 14 passes for 100 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Antione Johnson caught four passes for 60 yards and a touchdown.  Dar. Hollenkamp led the defense with nine solo and two assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.  Hollenkamp also recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass.  Cameron Perry added five solo and one assisted tackles and also recovered a fumble.  Demetri Scott and Amos Griffith also recorded five solo and one assisted tackles each.  Shawn Kaufman also intercepted a pass.

Anthony Moretti led St. Xavier’s ground attack with 42 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.  Doug Bodhaine completed 20 of 24 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.  Brycen Harkins caught five passes for 71 yards.  Zack Johnston and Anthony Moretti each caught four passes for 35 and 33 yards respectively.  Andre Coleman caught a74 yard touchdown pass.  Patrick Owen led the defense with 10 solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 12 yards.  Michael Houlihan added five solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a seven yard loss.  Harrison Pate intercepted a pass.

Lexington Catholic’s high octane offense was to much for Madison Southern tonight as the Knights earned a 51-12 victory.  Lexington Catholic recorded 16 first downs and 451 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized eight times for 65 yards.  Madison Southern recorded 15 first downs and 271 yards of total offense.  The Eagles were penalized five times for 51 yards and had a pass intercepted.

Keith Brinkman led Lexington Catholic’s ground game with 110 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries.  Beau Allen completed 15 of 20 passes for 311 yards and three touchdowns.  Jackson Corbett caught three passes for 114 yards and a touchdown.  Trenton Neuer also caught three passes for 60 yards and a touchdown.  Nathan Schnurr added two receptions for 57 yards.  Luke Powell added two receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown.  Nathan Schnurr returned two kickoffs for 67 yards including a 55 yard return for a touchdown.  Brennan Emnett led the defense with six solo and four assisted tackles.  C. Lafayette made a late defensive stand to earn a 14-6 victory over Bryan Station in a game in which both teams struggled to move the ball.  Lafayette recorded 10 first downs and 145 yards of total offense.  The Generals were penalized 10 times for 86 yards and lost three fumbles.  Bryan Station recorded eight first downs and 96 yards of total offense.  The Defenders were penalized seven times for 80 yards, lost a fumble and had a pass intercepted.  Lafayette averaged 2.7 yards per offensive play while Bryan Station could only manage 1.9 yards per play.

TJ Robinson led Lafayette’s ground game with 28 yards on eight carries.  Eligah Webb carried the ball six times for 25 yards.  Jaylen Lawson recorded 22 yards on five carries.  Corrnel Canada carried the ball four times for 21 yards.  Quinton Turner completed six of 14 passes for 47 yards.  Drake Nelson completed one of four passes for 23 yards and a touchdown.  JC Shegog caught two passes for 26 yards and a touchdown.  Teandre Newcomb added two receptions for 17 yards.  Teandre Newcomb returned two kickoffs for 73 yards with a long return of 57 yards.  Jaylen Lawson led the defense with nine solo and five assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling eight yards.  Austin Blake added seven solo and three assisted tackles with 3.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling nine yards.  Jay Brank recorded four solo and one assisted tackles and recovered a fumble he returned 11 yards.  Elijah Stone scored on a 20 yard interception return.

Antoine Smith led Bryan Station’s ground game with 42 yards on 13 carries.  Kendrick Curry completed six of 12 passes for 43 yards.  DONdre Fish caught five passes for 15 yards.  A. Chestnut added 29 yards on two receptions.  D. Ramirez led the defense with 10 solo tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling three yards.  C. McKinley added nine solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 14 yards.  Kyran Campbell recorded five solo and two assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.  DONdre Fish also recovered a fumble he returned 16 yards.

Covington Catholic graduated a lot of talent but obviously returned a lot as they dominated play in a 40-7 victory over Ryle.  Covington Catholic recorded 18 first downs and 473 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized four times for 40 yards.  Ryle recorded 11 first downs and 258 yards of total offense.  The Raiders were penalized twice for 18 yards, lost two fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.

C. McGinness led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 118 yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries.  C. Jacob completed 12 of 15 passes for 294 yards and two touchdowns.  Z. Coburn caught four passes for 33 yards.  D. Summe added two receptions for 84 yards.  J. Coldiron recorded two receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown.  J. Schuh caught a 60 yard touchdown pass.  M. Mayer led the defense with eight solo and four assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.  J. Blank added four solo and three assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.  J. Shriver recorded four solo tackles and recovered a fumble.  J. Coldiron added three solo tackles and intercepted a pass.

K. England led Ryle’s ground game with 44 yards on 12 carries.  J. Smith completed 14 of 27 passes for 182 yards with one touchdown and one interception.  M. Inabit caught five passes for 47 yards and a touchdown.  S. Clarkson added three receptions for 37 yards.  B. Soden recorded two receptions for 46 yards.  M. Inabit returned three kickoffs for 56 yards with a long return of 24 yards.  E. Cusick led the defense with six solo tackles.  L. Bradshaw added five solo and two assisted tackles.  J. It didn’t take Montgomery County transfer Charles Collins long to make an impact for Anderson County as he ran for a touchdown and caught two touchdown passes to lead Anderson County to a 41-0 victory over George Rogers Clark tonight.  Anderson County recorded 10 first downs and 285 yards of total offense.  The Bearcats were penalized 10 times for 88 yards and lost two fumbles.  George Rogers Clark recorded 15 first downs and 200 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized eight times for 66 yards, lost four fumbles and had a pass intercepted.

Zach Labhart led Anderson County’s ground game with 105 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.  Charles Collins carried the ball seven times for 103 yards and a touchdown.  Jagger Gillis completed two of seven passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns.  Charles Collins caught two passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns.  Colton Cornish led the defense and put up huge numbers with 10 solo and six assisted tackles.  Kynan Russell added five solo and one assisted tackles.  Zach Labhart recorded three solo and two assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 27 yards.  Aaron Chilton scored on a 36 yard fumble recovery.  B. Aldridge, Brendan Klink, and B. Richardson also recovered fumbles and W. Ruehrwein intercepted a pass.

Nitavius Thomas led George Rogers Clark’s ground game with 60 yards on 19 carries.  Azariah Isreal carried the ball 10 times for 32 yards.  Will Henry completed four of 12 passes for 67 yards with one interception.  Hagan Harrison completed three of six passes for 50 yards.  Isaiah Noland and Farris Shakadih each caught two passes for 36 and 30 yards respectively.  Samuel Johnson caught one pass for 27 yards and Nitavius Thomas added one reception for 18 yards.  Azariah Israel returned two kickoffs for 61 yards with a long return of 31 yards.  Jehdon Jenkins led the defense with three solo and one assisted tackles.  Jacob Smith added three solo and one assisted tackles.  Aquavion Lewis recorded three solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in an 11 yard loss.  Jaylynn Johnson and Devin Richards each recovered a fumble.

Scott County raced out to a 49-0 halftime lead on their way to a 56-13 victory over North Bullitt.  Scott County recorded 13 first downs and 355 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized three times for 36 yards and lost two fumbles.  North Bullitt recorded 10 first downs and 170 yards of total offense.  They were penalized five times for 30 yards and lost two fumbles.

Bronson Brown led Scott County’s ground game with 64 yards and a touchdown on two carries.  Phillip Garner carried the ball twice for 53 yards.  Austin Barnett added 53 yards and two touchdowns on six carries.  Cade McKee completed three of three passes for 82 yards.  Glenn Covington caught two passes for 38 yards.  Cade Mullins added one reception for 44 yards.  Matt Fannin returned two punts for 40 yards.  Berk Watts led the defense with four solo and five assisted tackles.  Glenn Covington added five solo tackles.  Matt Fannin recorded four solo and two assisted tackles, blocked two kicks and returned a blocked punt 12 yards for a touchdown.  Payton Brown also scored on a 10 yard blocked punt return and Wynston Reibel scored on a 33 yard fumble recovery return.  Rylan Reed added four solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 20 yards.  Sam Daniel also recorded four solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 18 yards.

Henry Clay utilized their blazing speed both on offense and defense to earn a 50-22 victory over Tates Creek.  Henry Clay recorded 10 first downs and 330 yards of total offense.  The Blue Devils were penalized 11 times for 122 yards and lost a fumble.  Henry Clay only ran 22 offensive plays compared to 57 for Tates Creek but held a 330-254 yard advantage on total offense.  Tates Creek recorded 19 first downs and 254 yards of total offense.  The Commodores were penalized nine times for 60 yards and had three passes intercepted.

Langston Jackson led Henry Clay’s ground game with 44 yards on six carries.  DJ VanHorn added 36 yards on two carries.  DJ VanHorn completed seven of 10 passes for 249 yards and four touchdowns.  Ramond Jackson caught three passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns.  Langston Jackson added two receptions for 151 yards and two touchdowns.  Ramond Jackson returned a punt 41 yards for a touchdown.  T. McDaniel led the defense with four solo and six assisted tackles.  Ramond Jackson added three solo and four assisted tackles.  Nate Steiner and Langston Jackson each scored on interception returns of 59 and 23 yards respectively.  Chris Dabney also recorded two solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 29 yards and intercepted a pass.
