North Laurel defeated Knox Central by the score of 69-56 to loosen Knox Central’s three year stranglehold on the 13th Region championship. North Laurel led 21-6 after the first quarter but Knox Central battled back and actually trimmed the margin to 3: 49-46 with 6:46 left in the game. North Laurel rallied to close out the game and end the run on a 20-10 run to give the Jaguars the title and earn Reed Sheppard the Tournament MVP award. North Laurel shot 49% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line. The Jaguars were a perfect 14 of 14 from the free throw line and pulled down 25 rebounds. Knox Central shot 36.1% from the field including three of 19 from beyond the arc. The Panthers connected on nine of 14 free throws and pulled down 34 rebounds.
6-3 Jr. Reed Sheppard led North Laurel with 37 points including 10 of 10 free throws, six rebounds, 11 assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. 6-4 Jr. Ryan Davidson added 13 points and 6-0 So. Brody Brock chipped in with eight points.
6-4 Sr. Jevonte Turner led Knox Central with 25 points and eight rebounds. 6-6 So. Gavin Chadwell added 16 points and 13 rebounds. 6-4 Sr. Isaac Mills chipped in with six points and 6-0 Sr. Blake Ledford tallied five points.
