Nelson County vs. Great Crossing (Girls)

Nelson County coach Michael Menifee started the following lineup: 5-8 So. Macy Runner, 5-8 Fr. Avery Wilson, 5-9 So. Shaylah Redmon, 5-4 Sr. Cameron Pike, and 5-6 So. Kendal Crawford,  Great Crossing coach Glenn Wilson Jr. countered with 5-7 Fr. Olivia Tierney, 5-7 Jr. Rachel Smith, 5-9 Fr. Ava Schureman, 5-4 Sr. Hailey Ward, and 5-7 Jr. Timothi Williams.

 

Great Crossing trailed 35-34 after three quarters but rallied to defeat Nelson County by the score of 54-45.  The score was tied three times and there were five lead changes in the game.  Great crossing shot 38% from the field including four of 21 from the three point line.  The Warhawks connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored five points off 12 Nelson County turnovers.  Nelson County shot 32.7% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cards connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 17 Great Crossing turnovers.

 

Hailey Ward led Great Crossing with 19 points including four three point baskets, 10 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals.  6-0 So. Raegan Barrett added 16 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.  Timothi Williams recorded six points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Ava Schureman chipped in with six points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.

 

Shaylah Redmon led Nelson County with 17 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and two steals.  Macy Runner added 12 points and six rebounds.  Avery Wilson recorded nine points, seven rebounds, and two blocked shots.
