Frederick Douglass coach Kurt Young started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. DaShawn Jackson, 6-1 Sr. Jaylan Green, 6-6 Jr. Shemar O’Roy-Ford, 5-8 Jr. Khamri McMullen, and 5-8 Sr. Jarvis Byrd. Scott County coach Tim Glenn countered with 6-4 Jr. Elias Richardson, 6-1 Jr. Mikaleb Coffey, 6-6 Sr. Terrin Hamilton, 5-10 Jr. Chase Grigsby, and 6-0 Sr. Aaron Leake.
Frederick Douglass led 35-16 in the first half but had to withstand a Scott County rally to earn a 78-75 victory over the Cardinals. There were six lead changes and three ties in this game. Frederick Douglass shot 50.9% from the field including eight of 21 from the three point line. The Broncos connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Scott County turnovers. Scott County shot 46% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on 25 of 27 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 15 Frederick Douglass turnovers.
DaShawn Jackson led Frederick Douglass with 31 points including four three point baskets, five of six free throws, eight rebounds, and two assists. Jaylan Green added 24 points including six of eight free throws, 12 rebounds, and two blocked shots.
Aaron Leake led Scott County with 20 points including two three point baskets, six of six free throws, three rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Terrin Hamilton added 16 points, five of five free throws, and two blocked shots. 6-1 So. Jeremy Hamilton recorded 15 points including nine of 10 free throws, seven rebounds, and two steals. Chase Grigsby chipped in with 11 points and three rebounds.
