Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Catie Kaifes, 5-11 So. Bria Bass, 5-11 Sr. Abby Wright, 5-8 Jr. Shay Solomon, and 5-10 Fr. Hailey McCoy. Murray State coach Rechelle Turner countered with 6-0 So. Brianna Crane, 5-9 So. Janika Griffith-Wall, 6-1 Jr. Evelyn Adebayo, 5-6 Fr. Macey Turley, and 5-7 Fr. Lex Mayes.
Eastern Kentucky led 17-14 after the first quarter but Murray State utilized big second and fourth quarters to pull away for an 81-63 victory over the Colonels. Murray State held a 42-28 advantage in points in the paint and enjoyed a 24-9 advantage in second chance points. The score was tied seven times and there were two lead changes in the game.
Murray state shot 42.2% from the field including six of 19 from the three point line. The Racers connected on 21 of 29 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 17 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 35.4% from the field including five of 25 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 12 of 14 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 18 Murray State turnovers.
Evelyn Adebayo led Murray State with 25 points including eight of nine free throws, 11 rebounds, and one blocked shots. Lex Mayes added 16 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, and three steals. 5-10 Fr. Alexis Burpo recorded 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Janika Griffith-Wall chipped in with 11 points and five assists. Brianna Crane added six points and six rebounds.
Bria Bass led Eastern Kentucky with 22 points including seven of eight free throws. Shay Solomon added 19 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. Abby Wright recorded eight points, three rebounds, and two blocked shots.
