44th District Tournament

Berea coach Dammian Stepp started the following lineup: 5-9 7th Grade Chesney Lovins, 5-9 8th Grade Alexis Newman, 6-0 Jr. Adrienne Beggs, 5-4 8th Grade Matilyn Stepp, and 5-4 Fr. Melissa Gosney.  Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey countered with 5-7 So. Taleya Todd, 5-7 Sr. Blaze Pacheco, 5-10 So. Je’Kauri McKeithen, 5-5 Sr. Bailee Vanover, and 5-6 Jr. Madison Barnard.

 

Madison Central defeated a very young (one 7th Grader, two 8th Graders, one Freshman, and one Junior in the starting lineup) team by a score of 58-26.  Madison Central shot 41.8% from the field including four of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on eight of 16 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 27 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 21.1% from the field including three of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pirates connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored four points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.

 

5-6 Fr. Lacie Parks led Madison Central with 12 points including two three point baskets and three steals.  Taleya Todd also scored 12 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Je’Kauri McKeithen added eight points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Bailee Vanover recorded seven points, eight rebounds, two assists, and nine steals.  Madison Barnard chipped in with seven points.

 

Adrienne Beggs led Berea with 11 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Melissa Gosney added 10 points including three three point baskets, and six rebounds.  Alexis Newman and Chesney Lovins pulled down eight and seven rebounds respectively.
