Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Eric Powell, 6-1 Sr. Cameron King, 6-9 So. Ray Suratt, 5-10 Jr. Evan Dreux, and 5-11 Sr. Fousseyni Diallo. Frederick Douglass coach Kurt Young countered with 6-5 So. Bilal Chhadh, 6-3 Sr. Justin Mitchell, 6-6 Fr. Shemar O’Roy-Ford, 5-8 So. Jaylin Bybee, and 6-1 Fr. DaShawn Jackson.
Lafayette defeated Frederick Douglass by a score of 73-68. The score was tied four times and there were three lead changes in the game. Lafayette shot 49.1% from the field including eight of 21 from the three point line, The Generals connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 22 Frederick Douglass turnovers. Frederick Douglass shot 46.6% from the field including eight of 17 from beyond the arc. The Broncos connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 21 Lafayette turnovers.
6-1 Sr. Devontae Hayes led Lafayette with 25 points and seven rebounds. Hayes was 12 of 15 from the field and one of two free throws. Eric Powell added 12 points and four rebounds. Evan Dreux recorded 12 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Justin Mitchell led Frederick Douglass with 16 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. DaShawn Jackson added 13 points including three three point baskets. 5-10 Jr. Montaveon Bean recorded nine points.
