Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts started the following lineup: 5-11 So. Abby Wright, 5-11 Sr. Shavontae Naylor, 6-1 Sr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-3 Jr. Marcella Rocha, and 5-8 Sr. Alexus Cooper.  Tennessee Tech University coach Kim Rosamond countered with 5-11 Jr. Yaktavia Hickson, 5-9 Sr. Hannah Goolsby, 6-2 Sr. Treyvonna Brooks, 5-7 Fr. Akia Harris, and 5-8 Sr. Lindsey Jennings.


Tennessee Tech led by 15 points in the third quarter but had to survive a furious Eastern Kentucky rally to earn a 53-51 victory.  Tennessee Tech shot 40.9% from the field including six of 10 from the three point line.  They connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored seven points off 14 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 33.9% from the field including five of 18 from beyond the arc.  Eastern Kentucky attempted 18 more shots (62-44) from the field than Tennessee Tech.  The Colonels connected on four of nine free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 25 Tennessee Tech turnovers.


Yaktavia Hickson led Tennessee Tech with 14 points including two three point baskets, 10 rebounds, and two steals.  Hannah Goolsby added 13 points including three three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Lindsey Jennings recorded eight points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Treyvonna Brooks chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.


Alexus Cooper led Eastern Kentucky with 18 points including four three point baskets and three steals.  5-5 Sr. Mariah Massengill added 14 points, four assists, and two steals.  Abby Wright recorded seven points and seven rebounds.  Jalen O’Bannon chipped in with six points and seven rebounds.
