Fort Wayne coach Niecee Nelson started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. KeShyra McCarver, 5-8 Sr. Rachel Rinehart, 6-2 Sr. Selena Lozada, 5-7 Fr. Zaria Atkins, and 5-7 So. De’Jour Young. Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts countered with 6-0 Fr. Tae’Lour Richardson, 5-11 Sr. Shavontae Naylor, 5-11 So. Abby Wright, 5-8 Sr. Alexus Cooper, and 5-9 Fr. Ann Jernigan.
Fort Wayne trailed 51-49 after three quarters but rallied to defeat Eastern Kentucky University by a score of 68-59. Fort Wayne shot 42.2% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line. They connected on 25 of 28 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 18 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 27.3% from the field including three of 13 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 10 of 12 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 18 Fort Wayne turnovers.
DeJour Young led Fort Wayne with 29 points and nine rebounds. Zaria Atkins added 18 points including nine of nine free throws and five rebounds. Rachel Rinehart recorded 13 points including five of five free throws, four rebounds, and four assists. Keshyra McCarver chipped in with 10 points including six of six free throws and four rebounds.
6-1 Sr. Jalen O’Bannon led Eastern Kentucky University with 20 points and six rebounds. 5-9 Sr. Katie Pippen added 13 points including three three point baskets. Shavontae Naylor recorded 10 points and seven rebounds.
