Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Nakeisha Green, 5-6 Sr. Jazmine Richmond, 6-1 Sr. Hannah Young, 5-6 Jr. T’Laya Lyvers, and 5-6 Sr. Destiny Carter. (Kerrigan Davis and Anovia Byars were out with injuries.) Franklin County coach Joey Thacker countered with 5-8 So. Rebecca Cook, 5-8 Jr. Dasia Kilbourne, 5-9 Jr. Malaka Frank, 5-5 Jr. Anna Arrastia, and 5-6 So. Princess Stewart. (Malaka Frank played well tonight despite being less than 100% due to an injury.)
Dasia Kilbourne hit two late free throws to give Franklin County a 58-56 victory over Henry Clay. Henry Clay had a late field goal attempt that failed to connect. There were seven lead changes and seven ties in this game. Franklin County shot 43.2% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line. The Lady Flyers connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 15 Henry Clay turnovers. Henry Clay shot 36.2% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc. The Lady Blue Devils connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 Franklin County turnovers.
Dasia Kilbourne led Franklin County with 26 points including 11 of 14 free throws and five rebounds. Rebecca Cook added eight points, five rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and three steals. Princess Stewart chipped in with seven points, five rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots. Malaka Frank recorded six points, eight rebounds, and four blocked shots.
Destiny Carter led Henry Clay with 19 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and three assists. Hannah Young added 10 points. T’Laya Lyvers recorded eight points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots, and four steals. 5-10 Jr. Jordyn Jackson chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.
