Bullitt East coach Bob Blackburn started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Jared Farris, 6-4 Jr. Brandon Klefot, 6-9 Sr. Tyler Bacon, 6-0 Jr. Tyler Sharpe, and 6-0 Jr. Bailey Rakes. Wayne County coach Rodney Woods countered with 6-4 Sr. Peyton Woods, 6-4 Fr. Jakson Baker, 6-6 Jr. Nick Gillespie, 6-0 Jr. Trey Blevins, and 6-2 Jr. Corey Stearns.
Wayne County led 43-33 in the third quarter but Bullitt East rallied for a 68-67 overtime victory. Bullitt East’s Brandon Klefot hit a basket late in regulation to tie the game at 60-60 and force overtime. Bailey Rakes hit a field goal in the closing seconds of overtime to give Bullitt East the victory. There were 10 lead changes and seven ties in this contest.
Bullitt East shot 47.4% from the field including three of 16 from the three point line. The Chargers connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Wayne County turnovers. Wayne County shot 40% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on nine of 18 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 16 Bullitt East turnovers.
Bailey Rakes led Bullitt East with 18 points. Tyler Sharpe added 17 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Jared Farris recorded 17 points and seven rebounds.
Peyton Woods led Wayne County with 24 points including three three point baskets and three steals. Corey Stearns added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Trey Blevins recorded 14 points and seven assists. Jakson Baker chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds and Nick Gillespie pulled down 11 rebounds.
