Another washout day.
The rain had lessened, but there was still .a chance of showers at any time. A second delivery of materials from Contractor's Warehouse arrived. It is a shame that we can't get to use them. The weather has delayed the pouring of the basement and garage floors. The masons stopped by in the late morning and asked if we wanted to chance the pouring of the garage floor. John needed something done. They worked laying plastic, setting the wire and forms. The concrete truck arrived and the process started. There was a brief shower, just as they started. Other than that time we lucked out with the rain. The main mason and John finished up under the lights about 10:15PM. What a long day!
The same weather forecast. The basement floor can't be poured until at least Wednesday. John worked on the framing for the stairwell. Mary Ann and John worked on repairing the fence and straightening the barn. The evening was cool, so we cut and stacked 50 of the175 eighteen foot studs. That way they will be ready when we get to that point.
No mason today! What a disappointment! Hopefully they will be here tomorrow. John spent a good bit of time pre-cutting studs and door / window studs were assembled.
The morning started early, the first concrete truck was here before 8:00 AM. and two more were to follow. This was the pivot point for moving on with the construction. As evening approached, the threat of rain was an issue. God was with us and the storms passed to our north and south.
The remaining floor joists were put in place and the the subfloor was started. Laying the sheets and securing them with adhesive went quickly, but fastening them with screws was a tedious task.
It was an early start and Marguerite and Keith helped. We worked the entire day and finished 99.9% of the subfloor. There are four bump-outs that add to the complexity of the floor. The only area that remains to be covered is a 3" by 25' at the end of the sunroom. It was a satisfying, yet exhausting day
