The work goes on...
 | July 17, Monday
The masons have been working for two more days and the main wall is
finished. They are starting the ledge section. John is
getting the garage ready for the stone and the floor to be poured. He
set chunks of broken block and pieces of paper to fill the hollow cores of
the blocks in the pit, |
 |
John feels like some progress is being
make.
|
 |
The masons are doing a fine job. |
 | July 18, Tuesday
It is a gray day with light rain, but the masons are continuing to
work. In a way, it is a relief from the heat and humidity. John
had to make a run to Danville to get more of the buff mortar. The
progress is good.

July 19, Wednesday There was a great deal of progress
made today. Much of the brick facing on the 18 inch exposure on the
majority of the walls was done.

back of the master bedroom. |
|
 | July 20, Thursday This was a hallmark day. Three
thousand one hundred bricks later, the
masons completed all the work. Stone was ordered and three loads
were delivered. John and Mary Ann worked together to spread the fill
into the garage. Ingenuity was evident in the use of the truck's snow
plow to move the mountains of stone. The evening was spent fitting the
treated sill.

Two masons are finishing up and
one is cleaning the brick. |

 | July 21, Friday |
It was an early morning start. More sills were completed. The
remaining two loads of stone delivered. We made steady progress.
At noon the fifty foot trailer arrived. It backed up the driveway and
dropped the TJIs and Parallams, It was an awing sight seeing
them rolled off the back of the trailer. The afternoon we continued to
work on the sill plates. John was eager to get some of the main beams (Parallams).
The three beams in the sun room are in place by 9PM. The sun is setting
and the day is ending.
| A quick drop rolled the entire stack
of materials off the back of the truck. |
 |
 | July 22, Saturday
An other early start, we were out before sunrise, cutting and placing the
Parallams. The temperature was cool and the humidity was low. As we were working, we noticed that some of the
main beam materials
were shorted in the order that was received yesterday.
 |
These were all placed by Mary Ann
and John working as a team. |
