RAVENSGATE KEEP REALM OF MYSTERY

Keep is an ancient way of referring to Sanctuary, e.g., a castle Keep (see raven picture on the Skullelection2000 Page (previous page) which shows a crenellated Keep with a dolmen ‘gate’ in front of it). My Dolmens * Ley Lines * Megaliths Page (under Topics) has a more detailed explanation of what a dolmen is.

Picture a wizard or sorceress in Medieval dress skillfully weaving potions in the Keep of the castle. Dusty ancient tomes are haphazardly lining the old bookshelves that are attached to the stone walls. Away from the books, and secured to the stone walls are sconces holding torches of light giving the Keep the appearance of a beacon in the night which, of course, it is both physically and metaphysically. A large old oak table holds a plethora of magickal paraphernalia, such as an oversized, anciently embossed leather-bond Book of Shadows (BOS) which has been passed down through generations of the sorceress’s family. Near it lies a strangely crafted pouch which is filled with Runes. Another pouch, covered with sigils, contains an assortment of crystals, mirrors and faery dust. Candles of various shapes, sizes and colors are burning brightly. A sword crafted by the fae lies on the table along with a chalice of wine, bowl of water, container of salt, cauldron, pentacle, athame, incense, special oils, virgin parchment paper, and quill pen. All of these are posited upon the old table/altar (remember, I said this was a HUGE table). Potions are bubbling in various and assorted flasks. The ever-present magickal wand with secret and magickal runic sigils is lying on the table near the mortar and pestle that awaits the herbs and potions. A cat sleeps cozily on the window ledge, whilst a dog curls-up near the stone fireplace where an old pot sits atop giant logs that are brightly burning away the chill in the evening’s air. Tiny luminescent faeries are flitting in, out and around the Keep blending their twinkling with the sparkling of the stars. The cat stretches and the dog yawns whilst the sorceress pauses (with a nod and a wink at the friendly dragon) to consult her Grimoire/ Book of Shadows and Runes.

This incredible artwork was done by, Sabrina, a most gifted and exceptionally talented artist. She read my above description and made this for me. She has absolutely everything in it except the flitting faeries. She must have thought it was too cold for them to be flitting out and about the Keep. That’s so cute. Anyway, isn’t this just the most incredible picture?! She and her husband, Jim, are stellar human beings. Her artwork will truly take your breath away. You can find more of her awesome artwork at
Sabrina’s Lasting Impressions.
It will amaze and delight you.

Raven---“In the form of a raven she emerged from her fairy-mound then perched on a standing-stone, singing her Mysteries: “I have a secret that you shall learn.” – Goodrich, 192

In Faery tales, a raven is often the soul-bird who conducts the hero into mysterious underground places and out again. Cross-culturally, they were often used in shapeshifting.

Ravens were viewed as teachers of magick and otherworld messengers of sacred wisdom bearing the secrets of gods and of life, death and immortality. A raven was the first bird Noah released from the Ark.

I am Raven and the Keeper of this website. I draw from my decades of study and experience in magick, anthropology, folklore, herblore and history, as well as my skills in palmistry, tarot and runes to help enable seekers toward their own self-knowledge and empowerment.

There will be many layers of mystery to explore. I will be weaving ways that you, the viewer/participant may better familiarize yourself with otherworldly realms.

Thank you for visiting my website. Please check in often to see the many new things I will be adding, and don’t forget to email me for any reason. Blessings.

The Elder Days are gone. The Middle Days are passing. The Younger Days are beginning. The time of the Elves is over, but our time is at hand: the world of Humans [sic], which we must rule. But we must have power, power to order all things as we will, for that good which only the Wise can see.---Saruman The White speaking to Gandalf the Grey

His [Gandalf’s] enemy halted again, facing him, and the shadow about it reached out like two vast wings. It raised the whip, and the throngs whined and cracked. Fire came from its nostrils. But Gandalf stood firm. "You cannot pass," he said. The orcs stood still, and a dead silence fell. "I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the Flame of Anor. You cannot pass. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udun. Go back to the Shadow! You cannot pass." ---Gandalf to Udun from Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring by Tolkien.

Gandalf always carries his staff with him which lights up the way in darkness and helps to cast a spell. He is armed with the Elven-sword Glamdring , forged by the Elves and once belonging to the Duke of Turgon. The Wizard found it in 2941 T.A. during his journey to the Lonely Mountain.

Still round the corner there may wait a new road or a secret gate;
And though I oft have passed them by, a day will come at last when I

UMTHAKATHI
USEKHAYA

NOTE: It has come to my attention that some people in SA are using this expression as a synonym for Aids. In my context, it has nothing to do with Aids, but refers to a quaint Zulu expression, which means quite simply —“The Witch is in the House”. The fact that some are using this disparagingly is a perfect example of their derogatory condemnation of Witches. The people doing this are still in the dark ages and unenlightened when it comes to Witches. Current African news stories are rife with stories of women being hunted down and murder because others think they are Witches. Many times these are mothers and daughters who have managed for themselves without the help of men. I would have preferred to leave the expression—Umthakathi Usekhaya -- a bit mysterious, but since I don’t want it used in a disparaging context, I thought I should reveal its meaning. Zulu refers to one tribe of people who make up the eleven official tribes in South Africa. Many of you may not know this, but one of the tribes making up the eleven official tribes in South Africa is referred to as the “White tribe”. These are the Afrikaners and English who have populated SA. We gave our Labrador Retriever, Thandi, a Zulu name. Thandi is a Zulu word for love. We should have given her the name ‘thief’ as she is always stealing things and running off with them hoping we will chase her. She loves that game!

Just look at us. Everything is backwards; everything is upside down. Drug companies and their ilk destroy health, Supreme Court justices destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the major media destroy information and religions destroy spirituality. --

"Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the U. A friend of ours, Nick Murray, thought he recognized our little Irish castle near Tipperary. He sent the above views of a castle which does have a lot of resemblance to the one Paul’s Great, Great Grandfather had painted for his bride, (See top of page.) who was ‘pining’ for Ireland after immigrating to America--(Another story). Meanwhile---Nick said that “This castle is Drumoland Castle in County Clare, South-west Ireland (beside Tipperary). This has been the ancestral home of the O'Brien's for centuries (descendants "of Brian Boru" - only native King of All Ireland - died 1014 in battle of Clontarf against the Vikings). It is now a 5-star hotel and one of the most prestigious hotels in Ireland”. Thanks, Nick.
