Data Collection

What data will we collect?Why?

We will be observing training classes to locate problem areas, surveying students and instructors to get feedback on the effectiveness of the training and the instructors, and examining materials in order to ensure they match the course objectives .The reason for surveying the students is to locate major concerns due to the previous high drop-out rates of prior perspective employees.

How will you gather data?  Why?

We will be gathering information through an after-training survey from all the participants of the course, including the trainers. We will be able to determine past deficiencies and be able to offer better quality control on the company’s current training program.

From whom will you gather data? Why?

Students, instructors, management, and secondary audience. Data needs to be collected from all who will be affected by the training. By missing any audience memember, the training may be invalid due to the possible variance the everyone offers in the system process.

If you are using a survey, why did you choose those particular
questions? Why did you choose to order the questions that way? Be sure to address reliability and validity.

We chose the questions for the survey to give us a nonbiased view from the course participants. The survey is broken into two sections, Course Objectives and Goals, and Instructor. Each of these main sections is subdivided into specific categories. Under the section, Course Objectives and Goals, the subcategories are: syllabus, objectives, organization, classroom, and time. For the section, Instructor, the subcategories are: knowledge level, communication, interaction, and attitude. We also provided an area for participant’s comments and suggestions for course improvement. The reason we chose this manner is to make sure that we do not offer questions which may invalidate our survey by leading the participants to answer in a certain way. The survey is made available online and can be viewed at Course Survey
