This is "son of" the old Islwyn Folk Club which was based in the same Ynysddu Hotel as the Platform is today.  The Chartists grew from members of the old club.

After staging a couple of one off resurrections in honour of both weddings and birthdays, demand grew for a new beginning. We decided to give it a go as our sprogs were becoming musicians and needed somewhere to play.

We're now in our 4th year and meet on the first Sunday of every month except for August. Even we need a break occasionally! If you perform or just listen, come along and enjoy good company and good music. A PA is usually set up for sound reinforcement (not sand blasting your lugholes!), and all are welcome to use it. All kinds of music are appreciated here.

The village of Ynysddu is on the A4048 between Cross Keys/Risca and Pontllanfraith/Blackwood in Gwent. The Hotel is over the small river bridge and is visible from the main road. The village is about 15 to 20  minutes drive from Junction 28 of the M4.
