History: When Kaoru was very young, both her parents were killed. She has lived by herself since then, making her a very strong-willed yet lonely person. When she first encounters Kenshin, she is actually looking for a man claiming to be the Battousai. The "Battousai" was actually a man named Gohei Hiruma, a Kamiya Kasshin student who was expelled from the school 11 years before. Out for revenge, Gohei says that he is using the Kamiya Kasshin Style of swordsmanship to murder people, therefore making Kaoru's students leave her school. Little does Kaoru know at this time, Kenshin is the real Manslayer of the revolution, and after he helps bring justice to Gohei, Kaoru offers Kenshin a place to stay at her dojo. Over time, a romance begins to form between the two of them, but Kenshin takes a VERY LONG TIME to admit his feelings to Kaoru. And the rest is history!
