Frequently Asked Questions

Just in case there's anything that you're wondering, here are a few of the most asked questions that we receive, so maybe this will help...!

Roofdog Fanzine. What's it all about then?

Roofdog Fanzine is a completely independent online music fanzine, featuring news, reviews, interviews and features.

There isn't very much news. Why is that?

Well, we're not stupid at The Music Bar, and we know that if we were to write every bit of news we could find, there would be far too many bits to read at once and most of it would just be the same as what you could read in any other fanzine or magazine. So we try to find those little snippets of news or rumours that the other publications may have missed rather than print anything that you're going to read five times this week anyway.

Sometimes an album in the albums section has "NEW!" next to it, even though the album might be quite old. Why is that?

More or less for the same reason... after all, just because an album is a little bit old it doesn't mean that it isn't any good. Also, we don't get the same level of promotional input that some other fanzines might and so we can't review every single album as it comes out. Adding older reviews with the newer ones also expands our album section into more of an "archive".

Why are there only pictures of album covers and band biogs for the small bands?

Well, our reckoning is if you're going to read about a large, well-known band or look for their albums in a record shop, you won't have much trouble at all. For the smaller bands however, it may help to read a little more about them, find out about their history and see some of their cover art, then it would be easier to get a better picture of them as a whole, as they might not get exposure in other places. Band artwork and biogs will be added for the larger bands in time, but info on lesser-known bands will generally (but not always) be added first.

So The Music Bar is just for small bands?

No! The Music Bar is for all bands... the album reviews and singles feature artists such as Beck, Pearl Jam, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Embrace, Pavement and many more well-established acts... but smaller bands get just as big a slice of the limelight.

Hmm, OK. I like writing and drawing... can I do any work for you?

Yes you can! We need album and live reviews for the music bar and reviews and comic strips for the Comics Section. But if you'd like to submit some work to us, please read our Submission Guidelines first, and try and let us know what you plan on doing before you do it!

Cool. I see what you mean now...

Yes, The Music Bar can't review every album in the world, but hopefully we'll get a lot of stuff that other people miss. Keep reading for the latest news, album reviews, interviews and other features to be added soon.
