The Blue Moon

During the fullness of this moon, it's important to kick back and relax, and take some time for ourselves.  This doesn't just mean physical time, however.  We need spiritual time, too.  Take time to make that inner journey and find out who we are and where we're going.  Our growing season will come soon enough.  And when it does, we need to be ready.

The phrase "Once in a Blue Moon" doesn't mean never, it just means its rare.  Take that once in a blue moon opportunity to catch up on much needed rest, or finish that project that hasn't gotten done.  Also, any magick done at this time will pack some extra "oomph" so take advantage of this time to do some magickal work.

Things to Do for the Blue Moon:

  • Wear tranquil shades of blue to honor the Earth's dreaming period.
  •  Decorate the altar with paper stars and snowflake designs, and symbols of peaceful rest.  Try a quilt for your altar cloth.
  •  Use blue candles and burn your Full Moon incense or for a change, burn Sandalwood incense.
  •  Leave traditional wand or athamé in storage today, and try casting your Circle with a dream catcher instead.
  •  Serve butter cookies and hot chocolate or chocolate milk for libation.
  • Try some dream work of your own.  Charge an amethyst and enchant it for prophetic dreaming by chanting:
    • Peaceful, dreamy purple stone
      Prophetic dreaming skills, now hone
Bring dream visions now to me
As I will, so mote it be.
    • Place the stone under your pillow, and prepare for visions untold.  Remember to write everything down!
