Merry Meet, and Welcome!

Here you can learn all about the 8 Solar Festivals of the Wiccan Year, as well as the 13 Esbats of the year.

A Comment from the WebMistress, Ravenna

I've been running Ravenna's Wheel of the Year a long time now.  In the grand scheme of things, for a personal site such as mine, not tied to a business but instead used for information sharing, this is a big deal!  Most of these kinds of sites kind of putter off into the sunset after a couple of years, but not me.  I still have a passion for learning, still have a passion for sharing.

For as long as I can remember, I have had an obsession with holidays. I spent hours upon hours doing all kinds of research into the history of our holy days, their origins, ways to celebrate them, foods that are considered traditional, and so much more. And it all helped to enrich my life as a Witch. A lot of what I found on the sabbats I found on the web, but I got a ton of ideas from books as well.

I've also discovered over the years as I've grown, so has my knowledge, and my understanding of each of the sabbats, I no longer look for basic information, but I look to deeper meanings, themes and history of each sabbat.  These things that I learn, I now share with every visitor to my site.  It is my goal to create a place that people go to when they want to know more, when they want new ideas for their own ritual celebrations.  To that end, I give you this my little corner of the web.So, I'd like to take a moment to give thanks and credit for many of the things that appear on these pages:

I want to thank my family for bearing with me during my moments of obsession where all I did was research one or another of the sabbats. I love you guys!

What's Going On?

  • July 15, 2020 - The times they have a changed! It's been a couple years since I updated, and occasionally I'll do quick updates on outdated links (so many!) and fixing any spelling errors. In the terms of new, I don't have a lot as most of my time is spent with my family, in my own personal practice and as a member of the Temple of Witchcraft. But, I love this little site of mine, and I intend to keep it around as long as I possibly can.  Covid-19 is running rampant right now, so this gives me a way to keep busy and distracted from the insanity of it all.  For all who still find this, be blessed, stay healthy!

  • April 23, 2018 - Well, it's been some time since I've done an updat of any sort, but I do try to poke in every now and then! I did try having my own domain for a while, but in the end, more people know THIS site, so I decided to keep it as my main home as it were. I will probably add some new content here and there, but for the most part, I'm just checking back in.

  • September 14, 2015 - Welcome to my new domain! I've been talking about it for ages and ages and finally managed to get around, suck it up and just do it! I'm pretty pleased with the result, thought a call to tech support was needed.  The host company was super nice about it, and I don't think I will ever have to worry about issues with getting angelfire to let me do what I want, so yay! Anyway, I'll be back to working on Esbat pages soon enough, though I will be working on the Mabon pages first.  Just kind of dust them off and make them prettier!  My creative groove is back baby, yeah!

  • May 31, 2015 - Update time!! Been a while since I hit up the front page of this site - BAD RAVENNA! But in my defense, the other pages are coming along beautifully!  So latest updates are some minor tweaks to the Midsummer pages and maybe a few ritual additions to that section.

  • October 14, 2014 - Well, back to working on various sections of this website.  New content in the Samhain section, added a few rituals and fixed some of the broken links in the Samhain links.  More stuff to come!!

  • April 28, 2014 - Well, some layout and content changes, removing most of the pop up adds (gods those are so annoying.)  I've come to a new phase in my Craft learnings, so some of the new content changes will be a reflection of that.  I'm pretty excited about it!  Another big thing is I'm learning new ways of web design, so I'm looking forward to creating new things for this website.  It's my goal to make one of the best places to look for information on sabbats and esbats, so we'll see!  I realized not long ago that Ravenna's Wheel of the Year has been on the web for over 10 years!!  Oh my Goddess! Wow, I never thought I'd be one of those sites that have been around (and still maintained) for longer than a few years.  Very cool!  Any way, enough from me for the time being, time to continue weaving the web!!

  • September 2, 2013 - So I totally forgot to remove all the ad/pop-ups from the Mabon section, but I have since remedied that.  I've also been debating doing another design overhaul.  Why? Why the heck not? Change is good!  I'm also considering once again adding to this site, possibly bringing over the sister site info over here and then adding another section.  But the "other" section I'm thinking of adding is pretty much already covered in my blog (linked above), so I don't know.  Anywho! That is all for now!

  • February 22, 2013 - Just about done removing all the add/pop-ups from the website, so happy day! Also, I've been debating working on updating and working on my Web of Shadows sister site, I surfed on over there the other day and was mildly horrified at how long it's been since I've worked on anything over there.  There's potential to make that a fabulous site... I just need to decide if I want to have a seperate site from here... or if I just want to move all the pages to this site and not worry about having to pay for both websites.  Hmm, decisions, decisions.  Well, I'll keep everyone posted in the meantime!

  • February 10, 2013 - More new content! Plus, removing the pop-up ads and in page ads, yay!

  • February 09, 2013 - Added pages to the Ostara rituals, new solitary, group and family friendly rituals! More new stuff to come!

  • January 03, 2013 - More updates, just checking to make sure links are still working and a few changes here and there!  Yay!

  • July 27th, 2012 - Well! It's been awhile since I've actually updated this page of the website, though there is a ton of new content in the sabbats pages (and I'm still working on the Esbats section, Goddess knows why, but that section has been giving me nothing but trouble.  Anywho! Imagine my surprise when I get an email from a friend of mine telling me that a very popular online pagan store has linked my Lughnasadh pages to their website?! OMG! That's awesome!  Granted, that makes me want to go through my Lughnasadh pages and update the living heck out of them... since we all know it is my passion to learn and boy have I learned!  So yup! New content coming soon!

  • January 20th, 2011 - Been working on fixing up the Imbolc pages in anticipation of the upcoming sabbat. Something that has been on my mind lately is the new SOPA/PIPA bills that were proposed by the US government.  Those bills are very dangerous my friends.  I'm not even going to try and explain them to you myself, but I will offer you this link to a video - YOU MUST SEE THIS! This video explains perfectly why SOPA and PIPA are so dangerous.  Though I've heard rumor that both of those bills have been put on hold for now that is not to say that they won't be back with different names.  We as an internet community must take a stand when government tries to take our right to information away.  Even if you don't live in the US, this is important to you.  That is not to say that I am for online piracy, I am all for punishing people who make profit off stealing other peoples' thoughts, ideas and materials, but not like this.  Those bills and ones like them to come have the potential to shut down this site and others like mine.  Educate yourselves.  We need to put an end to online piracy yes... but not like this.  Blessings to you all!

  • December 20th, 2011 - Added 2 new recipes to the Yule section, and debating on added some content to the December Esbats section.  Man, I can hardly believe it's already just about Yule.  Granted, I've been aware of it, but it still seems like it snuck up on me this year! Oi! Either way, new content for your enjoyment!

  • December 08th, 2011 - More updates! Yay!!

  • September 27th, 2011 - Well, after realizing that the Samhain section was lacking, I've started working on it again.  We are as of this point 34 days out until Samhain, and I have lots of stuff to add to the site in preparation for it!  Also, added a small blurbage in the Mabon section about my simple celebration this year.  Though if you want to read more of my thoughts on the Mabon season (or any of the sabbats, I suppose) I recommend checking out my blog (link is on the left "Ravenna's Random Ramblings") as I tend to put a nice seasonal blurb on that.  Aside from these little updates... check back for some new content over the next few days! Yay!

  • July 11th, 2011 - More updates!! Almost through with the Esbat section, so huzzah!!

  • June 27th, 2011 - Finished most of the redesign of the site.  All the sabbat pages are redone and up, also added a couple pages and updated some stuff. I've started working on the esbat pages, but methinks that may take me quite a while to finish, as there are a LOT of pages to upload and create... but! It's coming along! Yay!

  • May 16th, 2011 - Well... again, it's been some time since I've done any real updating on this website... I've decided that Microsoft sucks, and Angelfire is a bit of a pain in the butt... so my theme and half my pages have disappeared. They will come back... eventually, lol. I've got lots of new information to share with everyone, so please be patient while I get everything fixed and pretty again for all of your enjoyment! Blessings, Ravenna.
