#1 Pokémon, I Choose You!
Ash oversleeps and shows up at the Pokemon competition late. Most of the Pokemon are already choosen, and Dr. Oak gives Ash the willful Pikachu as his starter Pokemon. Trying to catch a Pidgey, Ash accidently angers a flock of Spearows. Pikachu and Ash defend each other, and Pikachu is hurt in the battle. Ash steals Misty's bike to get the injured Pikachu to a hospital.

#2 Pokémon Emergency
Rushing into town, a policewoman suspects that Ash might be a Pokemon theif. Realizing that he isn't, she helps rush Pikachu to the hospital. Misty catches up to Ash at the hospital and scolds him for stealing her bike. The evil Team Rocket, consisting of Jesse and James, is introduced and attempts to kidnap the Pokemon at the hospital. Jesse, James, and Meowth learn that Ash's Pikachu is no ordinary Pikachu and vow to catch it.

#3 Ash Catches a Pokémon
Ash throws a Pokeball and manages to catch his first Pokemon: a Caterpie. The bug disgusts Misty, but Capterpie manages to save the day when Team Rocket attacks. In the end, Caterpie evolves into a Metapod.

#4 Challenge of the Samurai
While hunting for more Pokemon, Misty comes across Ososhru, a Samurai Pokemon trainer. Ash and Ososhru have a Pokemon battle. Later, Team Rocket demands Ash hand over Pikachu, and he refuses. While defending Ash, Metapod evolves into Butterfree.

#5 Showdown at Pewter City
Recovering at the Pewter City Pokemon Center, Ash learns about a tournament. He goes to the Pewter City gym to try to earn his first badge. Brock, the gym leader, ends up joining Ash and Misty in their travels.

#6 Clefairy and the Moonstone
The gang saves Seymore the scientist from a flock of Zubats. Team Rocket--in search of the Moon Stone, an element that increases a Pokemon's power--disturbs that habitat of several Pokemon.

#7 The Water Flowers of Cerulean City
Misty doesn't want to go to Cerulean City, home of the Sensational Sisters. At an aquarium Pokemon gym, Ash challenges the Sensational Sisters' gym leaders. They're too tired to battle, but Misty reveals that she is one of the Sisters. Ash and Misty battle until Team Rocket interferes.

#8 The Path to the Pokemon League
An overconfident Ash takes on A.J., a trainer whoo might be pushing his pokemon too hard. When Team Rocket kidnaps A.J.'s Sandshrew, A.J. realizes how much he misses the Pokemon.

#9 The School of Hard Knocks
While searching for firewood, Ash comes across students from Pokemon Tech, a school for Pokemon trainers. Misty battles a student and a teacher, ans Ash comes to her defense. Pokemon Tech alumni Team Rocket attacks, but is overwhelmed by the student body.

#10 Bublasaur and the Hidden Village
Misty and Ash try to catch and Oddish and a Bulbasaur. While crossing a weak bridge, Brock falls into the river and is saved by Melanie, a girl who raises Pokemon. Team Rocket attacks yet again and Ash has to prove himself worthy enough to Bulbasaur.

#11 Charmander--The Stray Pokémon
The kids come across a sick Charmander who's waiting for its trainer by the road. At the Pokemon Center, Brock is angered when he hears Charmander's trainer doesn't care what happens to it. They save the Pokemon, but it still wants to wait for its owner. Team Rocket manages to capture the gang, but Charmander comes to the rescue. Its negligent owner comes back, only to get a scorching from the little lizard.

#12 Here Comes the Squirtle Squad
A group of Squirtle practical jokers trap our heros in a pit, but they manage to escape. Later, the same squirtles join up with Team Rocket and capture Pikachu. During Pikachu's rescue, Ash saves the Squirtle leader from Team Rocket's bombs. In appreciation, the Squirtle joins Ash's stable of Pokemon.

#13 Mystery at the Lighthouse
Ash catches a Krabby, but finds out that he can only carry six Pokemon at a time. The rest are teleported to Dr. Oak's lab. Ash goes to a lighthouse ato call and check on his Pokemon. A Pokemon researches living there tells him about rare Pokemon, including a Loch Ness monster-type.

#14 Electric Shock Showdown
As, Misty, and Brock arrive in Vermillion City, and Pikachu battles the creul Lt. Surge's Raichu (a more evolved version of Pikachu). Pikachu loses and refuses a nurse's offer to upgrade its power to the level of Raichu. Pikachu requests a rematch and uses its greater speed and agility to defeat Raichu.

#15 Battle Aboard the St. Anne
A disguised Team Rocket convinces many trainers to board a free cuise. Team Rocket tries to vacuum up all the Pokemon, but Ash rallies the trainers to fight back. The ship begins to sink with everyone aboard.

#16 Pokemon Shipwrecked
Officer Jenny is holding a funeral for our heroes, who she beleives have perished in the sinking ship. Inside the sinking ship, the enemies call a truce to escape the ship, like in the film "The Poseidon Adventure." James kicks his useless Magikarp into the water, where it evolves into a pwerful Gyrados sea serpent and returns to attack everyone on board the ship.

#17 Island of the Giant Pokemon
The Pokemon are seperated from their masters and wash up on shore. Both humans and Pokemon are menaced by giant Pokemon, but they later find out that it's only an amusement park.

#19 Tentacool and Tentacreul
A developer in Prta Vista tries to build a resort on the off-shore reed home of some Tentacools. A botched attempt by Team Rocket to capture the Tentacools cause one of them to turn into a giant Tentacreul. Misty convinces the Tentacreul not to destroy the town.

#20 The Ghost of Maiden's Peak
Brock and James fall in love with the same beautiful girl, who turns out to be a ghost. The ghost begins to drain the pair of life energy, but the Pokedex reveals it to be Gastly, a ghost Pokemon.

#21 Bye Bye Butterfree
It's Butterfree's mating season, so Ash tries to find his Butterfree a suitable mate. Team rocket shows up with a giant butterfly net and captures nearly all the Butterfree. Ash's Butterfree leads a rescue mission, and then Ash says Good-bye as the Butterfree fly off into the sunset.

#22 Abra and the Psychic Showdown
Ash and friends meet a mysterious gil in the woods, who laters saves them from a Team Rocket trap. A psychic jogger warns them about the city's gym leader, Sabrina, who uses an Abra and a Kadabra. Ash learns that he needs a ghost Pokemon to defeat Sabrina's phychic Pokemon.

#23 Tower of Terror
The kids must enter a haunted tower to catch a ghost Pokemon. After some mischief, Ash discovers that the Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar that live there are friendly ghosts. Haunter decides to join the group.

#24 haunter vs. Kadabra
Haunter disappears when Ash challenges Sabrina again. The psychic jogger tells Ash Sabrina's origin, while Haunter saves Pikachu from Team Rocket. In the final battle, Haunter wins by making sabrina laugh. The jogger reveals himself to be Sabrina's father.

#25 Primeape Goes Bananas
Dr. Oak tells Ash that he trails his rival Gary in badges and Pokemon. While Ash is taunted by a Mankey, Team Rocket attacks. Jesse and James learn it's not good to anger a Mankey, because it evolves into a ferocious Primeape. Ash manages to defeat the Primeape with Charmander.

#26 Pokémon Scent-sation!
The Celadon City Pokemon Center is also a perfume shop. Ash doesn't like perfume, and his complaining gets him kicked out. Team Rocket gets Ash to dress as "Ashley" to sneak back in, but Pikachu messes up Ash's disguise. Ash challenges Erica, the gym leader, and her smelly Gloom Pokemon.

#27 Hypno's Naptime
Kids are missing and Pokemon are falling asleep in Hop-Hop-Hop City. Officer Jenny and the gang discover the problem is a hypno causeing children to act like the sleeping Pokemon. The use a Drowzee to solve the problem, and Misty gets stuck with a Psyduck.

#28 Pokemon Fashion Flash
Pokemon beauty parlors are becoming all the rage. Misty takes Psyduck to trendy Salon Rocké, a front for Team Rocket. Brock, Ash, and honest stylist Susan come to the rescue. Team Rocket's Pokemon trip over their outlandish clothes and Brock gets Susan's Vulpix.

#29 The Punchy Pokémon
An obsessed father ignres his family so he can train his boxing Hitmonchan. Team Rocket attempts to cheat and rig a tournament, but Ash's Primeape wins anyways. Ash gives Primeape to the trainer, who vows to spend more time with his family.

#30 Sparks fly for Magnemite
Grimers cause a blackout in polluted Gringy City. A Magnemite is attracted to Pikachu, who has a cold. The Grimers and a Muk attack the power plant, but are beaten back by the Magnemite and evolved Magnetons. Ash catches the Muck and sends it to the unappreciative Dr. Oak.

#31 Dig those Digletts
Digletts are causing trouble for the construction workers of the Giva Dam. A crowd of trainers throw Pokeballs at the Digletts, but the Pokemon refuse to fight. It turns out that the Digletts are protecting their home. Team Rocket attacks with their newly evolved Weezing and Arbok, but the Digletts beat them down with a dirt wave.

#32 The Ninja Poké-Showdown
The kids come across a gym run by ninja Pokemon trainers. When Team Rocket interrupts the match, Misty's Psyduck proves its worth by beating them. Afterwords, Ash beats the gym leader and wins another badge.

#33 The Flame Pokémon-athon
Ash Misty, and Brock stumble upon a Pokémon preserve where trainers aren't allowed to catch Pokemon. A girl names Laura invites them to a party for the Pokeom race, where she accidently breaks her arm. Ash takes her place in the race and beats a cheater who hired Team Rocket to sabotage the race.

#34 The Kangaskhan Kid
In the Safari Zone, the kids come across Officer Jenny, who is trying to catch Pokemon preserve poachers. The culprits turn out to be Team Rocket. A herd of Kangaskhan is saved by a Tarzan-like kid. The boy's parents show up, and the group helps reunite them.

The infamous epilepsy episode that mysteriously hospitalized scores of Japanese children. This episode will not be reproduced or aired in the United States.

#36 The Bridge Bike Gang
To get into Sunny Town, the group sign on as bicycle couriers. A biker gang, led by Team Rocket, challenges them to a Pokemon battle. Ash and Misty earn the biker's respect, Team Rocket loses face, and Brock gets slapped for trying to hit on one of the biker chicks.

#37 Ditto's Mysterious Mansion
On a dark and stormy night, the gang comes across Ditto and a trainer, both whom can copy any form. Team Rocket steals Ditto, hoping to have it change into the rare Dratini. The trainers rely on shapeshifting to fool Team Rocket and rescue the little Ditto.

#39 Pikachu's Good-bye
Ash's Pikachu encounters dozens of wild Pikachus in a forest. Ash thinks that Pikachu might be happier living with its own kind. Team Rocket catches all the Pikachu's, but Ash's Pikachu leads a revolt. Ash decides to leave his Pikachu behind, but Pikachu returns to Ash's arms.

#40 The Battling Eevee Brothers
Ash and crew come across an abandoned Eevee. Bringing it back to its rightful owner, the boy's brother's pressure him to evolve it. Team Rocket steals all the Pokemon, the evolving stones, and that food at a party. During the rescue, Eevee proves itself.

#41 Wake up, Snorlax
Team Rocket tries to capture a sleeping snorlax that is blocking a town's river. Ash and friends join forces with Team Rocket to try and wake the Snorlax. They discover an old hippie with a Pokéflute that can wake up the Snorlax.

#42 Showdown at Dark City
Dark City has two authorized Pokemon training gyms, but both sides hate outside trainers. Team Rocket joins forces with Kas gym and its main rival--Yas gym tries to recruit our heroes, but Ash wants nothing to do with gangs. A Pokemon Inspector reprimands both gyms and puts Ash in charge of their clean-up efforts.

#43 The March of the Exeggutor Squad
Misty becomes Melvin the Magician's assistant and the inept magician learns that his Exeggutor can hypnotize people. While trying to steal the Exeggutors, Team Rocket cause the tree-like Pokemon to go on a rampage. During the battle, Ash's Charmander evolves into a Charmeleon.

#44 The Problem with Paras
The beautiful Pokemon trainer needs her Paras to evolve into a Parasect so that she can harness its spore to make a wonder medicine. Meowth becomes ill, is saved by the healer, and falls hopelessly in love with her. Team Rocket tries to help the Paras evolve into a Parasect--only because they think it will help them get rich.

#45 The Song of Jigglypuff
The team tries to teach a Jigglypuff--a Pokemon who's sweet song can put people to sleep--how to sing. Team Rocket conspires to harness the Jigglypuff's nap-inducing power and rob Neon Town, Pokémon's version of Los Vegas.

#46 Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon
After Pokemon fossils are discovered in Grampa Canyon, it touches off a prospecting boom. Ash soon discovers that the thought-to-be extinct Aerodactyl is still very much alive and well.

#47 A Chansey Operation
Pikachu gets something lodged in its throat, and with the nearest Pokemon Center miles away, Ash brings it to a hospital for humans. Team Rocket is involved in a traffic accident and many Pokemon are injured. Ash and crew help out in the hospital with the injured Pokemon.

#48 Holy Matrimony
James must get married within 24 hors if he wants to collect on his parents' will. However, his parents were just pretending to be dead to get him to marry. James' Growlithe must save his former master from the bride-to-be, a Jesse look-alike.

#49 So Near, Yet So Farfetch'd
A trainer is so convinced that his Farfetch'd is too weak to fight that he resorts to thievery to catch Pokemon. After Misty is tricked by the trainer, it's up to the gang to get Misty's Pokemon collection back.

#50 Who Gets To Keep Togepi
The egg that the kids have been carrying is almost ready to hatch. Team Rocket manages to steal it, but Meowth developes genuine feelings for it. Ash and Meowth battle for possession of the newest Pokemon, but the Togepi attaches itself to Misty.

#51 Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden
Answering nature's call, Ash's Bulbasaur migrates to the Mysterious Garden. Concerned for its safety, the trainers follow and witness a secret evolution ceremony. Of course, Team Rocket can't pass up the opportunity to catch so many Ivysaurs at once.

#54 The Case of the K-9 Caper
Team Rocket has a planto control a training squad of police Growlithes. They steal the voice of Officer Jenny and plan to use the tiger-dog Pokemon to commit robberies. Ash, Misty, and Brock are powerless to stop them. The Growlithes eventually recognize Officer Jenny and turn on Team Rocket.

#55 Pokémon Paparazzi
Todd, the world's foremost Pokemon photographer, wants to take a picture of Pikachu, but the little guy is scared of the camera. Ash and pikachu get trapped in an underground water tunnel and Todd save them. Team Rocket captures Pikachu, but Ash's Bulbasaur rescues him.

#56 The Ultimate Test
Think that trainers don't have to go to school? Think again. Ash has to take that Pokemon Legue admissions exam. Jesse and James sneak into the class, and both are expelled. Ash battles the class teacher and loses, while Team Rocket plots revenge.

#57 The Breeding Center Secret
A new breeding center is actually a cover for a diabolical scheme, but it's not Team Rocket! Meet Butch and Cassidy--Team Rocket's biggest rivals in being bad.
