After spending many hours in the shop getting the cars in the R & R Racing/Blue Knights/Shew Towing stable ready to race, it was time to go to the track. However, Mother Nature had other ideas as by mid-week the forecast was for nasty, stormy weather on Saturday afternoon.

The day dawned clear and calm, but the wind came up before noon. As the day wore on, clouds came and went. I loaded the factory stock on the trailer at 3 PM and called Jeff to let him know I was ready to load the stock car. Still enough time to get a shower and grab a bite to eat before I head to the track.

Jeff planned to come a little after 4 to get the stock car. I left for the track at 4 amidst severe thunderstorm warnings for Jefferson County and Saline County, which are directly west and northwest of our county.

With the threatening weather, nobody had checked into the pits yet; rather, everybody waited on the fairgrounds. Within 10 minutes after arriving, the rains started and the tornado sirens were blowing. In about a half hour, the official weather showed .65" of rain and we had a lot of marble sized hail at the track. I was back home less than an hour after I left.

One nice thing is that I think everything is pretty much ready to go for next week. We're hoping the weather will cooperate and we can race next Saturday, April 22, 2006. Hope to see everybody at the track soon!
