Beatrice Speedway 27 August 2005
On August 27th, the A Features from the week before were finished in all classes except the factory stocks, which got off before the races were called the week before. The R & R Racing/Blue Knights Stock Car was to start in the last row of the 16 car A Feature. The track was still tacky and with a bit of luck on our part and some bad luck for others, we had a decent run, finishing 9th. We closed up to within striking distance of 9th place in points in the class. If we can just have a good finish in the 2nd A Feature, we'll have that spot. We've already got 8th place in factory stock points wrapped up.
We started the R & R Racing/Blue Knights factory stock on the outside of the 3rd row of the A Feature. A lot of good, close racing during this A Feature, and we ended up with a 9th place finish. The track was drying out by this time and some holes were appearing going into the turns at each end of the track. It was a good run, though, as there was nothing major to fix on the car before the season finale.
We started last in the 16-car Stock car A Feature for the 27th. A decent run with a 13th place finish put us in 9th place in points. All I have to do is start the A Feature on September 3rd and we'll have 9th place in points sewed up. It's been a good season for us- this is the 7th year we've had a car and the first time we've ever finished in the top 10. Come time for the awards banquet, we'll have two trophies to show off!! :-)
