Eastern Kentucky rolled to a 52-10 victory over Valparaiso to open their season tonight.  EKU held Valparaiso to 38 yards on the ground and took control of the game early with a 14-0 first quarter lead and stretched the advantage to 31-3 at halftime.  Eastern recorded 19 first downs and 410 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized nine times for 90 yards and had two passes intercepted.  Valparaiso recorded 14 first downs and 220 yards of total offense.  The Crusaders were penalized four times for 27 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.

Kentayvus Hopkins led Eastern’s ground attack with 60 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.  Arien Beasley carried the ball twice for 20 yards and a touchdown.  Adam Lane and Ethan Thomas also added a touchdown each on the ground.  Bennie Coney completed 11 of 20 passes for 20 yards and 153 yards and two touchdowns.  Kyle Romano completed seven of nine passes for 93 yards.  Jeff Glover caught five passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns.  Joel Brown added four receptions for 57 yards.  Ben Madon recorded four receptions for 48 yards.  Stanley Absanon scored on a 56 yard interception return.  Absanon also returned three punts on 46 yards and two kickoffs for 80 yards including a kickoff return of 62 yards.  D’Vonta Derricott led the defense with three solo and five assisted tackles.  Buck Solomon added four solo and one assisted tackles.  Noah Spencer recorded three solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.  

Jake Hutson led Valparaiso’s ground game with 27 yards on six carries.  Brandon Hall carried the ball 11 times for 23 yards.  Scott Staal completed 15 of 25 passes for 98 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Dalton Stokes completed 11 of 19 passes for 84 yards with one interception.  Frank Catrine caught eight passes for 70 yards.  Jake Hutson added five receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown.  Ryan Moore also caught five passes for 31 yards.  Alex Green led the defense with five solo and four assisted tackles.  AJ Bradley added six solo tackles.  Jalin LeAndre recorded three solo and two assisted tackles.

Ryle raced out to a 42-0 halftime lead on their way to a 52-7 victory over Boone County.  Ryle recorded 13 first downs and 465 yards of total offense.  The Raiders were penalized three times for 25 yards and had a pass intercepted.  Boone County recorded eight first downs and 165 yards of total offense.  The Rebels were penalized four times for 25 yards and lost a fumble.

Aaron O’Hara led Ryle’s ground game with 67 yards and a touchdown on four carries.  Lex McGregor carried the ball six times for 60 yards and one touchdown.  Collin England added 39 yards and two touchdowns on five carries.  Tanner Morgan completed four of six passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.  Aaron O’Hara completed four of six passes for 107 yards and one touchdown.  Jacob Chisholm caught two passes for 105 yards and a touchdown.  Bryce Ashley added two receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown.  Eric Wright recorded two receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown. 

Amadou Diaw led Boone County’s ground game with 36 yards on 13 carries.  Brandon Morgan carried the ball five times for 13 yards and a touchdown.  Alex Schwartz completed 10 of 22 passes for 118 yards.  Corstin Cahill caught four passes for 53 yards.  Rondell Douglas added four receptions for 33 yards.  Lucas Tanner caught a pass for 24 yards.  #8 caught a pass for eight yards.

This game was called at halftime because of weather conditions but Lexington Christian Academy earned a 21-6 victory over Green County.  Lexington Christian Academy recorded 10 first downs and 238 yards of total offense.  The Eagles were penalized six times for 37 yards.  Green County recorded five first downs and 82 yards of total offense.  They were penalized twice for 11 yards.

Dillon Wheatley led Lexington Christian Academy’s ground game with 47 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.  Brayden Miller completed seven of 11 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown.  Logan Nieves completed three of five passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.  Ryan Stucky caught two passes for 89 yards.  Kyle Paske also caught two passes for 36 yards.  Caelan Lebryk added three receptions for 27 yards and a touchdown.  Drayden Burton caught a 13 yard touchdown pass.  Wade Drake led the defense with two solo and five assisted tackles.  Clay Elliot added one solo and three assisted tackles.

Austin Matney led Green County’s ground game with 44 yards and a touchdown on eight carries.  Austin Matney completed three of six passes for 34 yards.  Tahj Calhoun, Andrew Davis, and Savon Brewer each caught one pass for 18, nine, and seven yards respectively.  Jordan Springer returned one kickoff for 56 yards.  Tyler Atwood led the defense with five solo and three assisted tackles.  Seth Houchens added three solo and four assisted tackles.  Savon Brewer recorded three solo and three assisted tackles.

Franklin County defeated Woodford County 56-35 in a game that was suspended on Friday night at halftime because of weather conditions and finished on Saturday.  Franklin County recorded 19 first downs and 419 yards of total offense.  The Flyers were penalized six times for 60 yards.  Woodford County recorded 25 first downs and 478 yards of total offense.  The Yellowjackets were penalized 13 times for 128 yards and lost three fumbles.

Denzell Vance led Franklin County’s ground game with 58 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.  Jhanny Rodriguez carried the ball once for 46 yards and a touchdown.  Barrett Sanderson added 41 yards and a touchdown on five carries.  Landon Hurst added 15 yards and a touchdown on five carries.  Barrett Sanderson completed 17 of 23 passes for 270 yards and four touchdowns.  Landon Hurst caught five passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns.  DeMarcus Kennedy added five receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown.  Cody Lofton caught three passes for 32 yards.  DeJuan Davis caught a 45 yard touchdown reception.  Jhanny Rodriguez led the defense with 11 solo and four assisted tackles.  Sam Anderson added six solo and five assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.  Zack Janca recorded four solo and five assisted tackles.

Domynik Johnson led Woodford County’s ground game with 80 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.  Emir Bernabe carried the ball 14 times for 69 yards and a touchdown.  Trey Thurman added 59 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.  Devontre Winkfield carried the ball 10 times for 40 yards.  Trey Thurman completed 21 of 27 passes for 216 yards and a touchdown.  Malik Richards caught four passes for 52 yards.  Devontre Winkfield added four receptions for 31 yards.  Dwayne Depp also recorded four receptions for 12 yards.  Domynik Johnson caught three passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.  Jacob Jenkins added three receptions for 29 yards.  Michael Eldridge led the defense with three solo and five assisted tackles.  Drake Jackson added four solo and two assisted tackles.  Jonathan Colley recorded four solo tackles.

Tates Creek defeated Paul Laurence Dunbar 42-29 in a game that was delayed approximately one hour in the first quarter due to lightning and ended with 1:04 remaining in the final quarter due to weather conditions.  Tates Creek QB Peyton Burke threw for five touchdowns and the Commodore defense recovered five fumbles returning one for a touchdown and intercepted a pass.  Tates Creek recorded 11 first downs and 279 yards of total offense.  The Commodores were penalized seven times for 41 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.  Paul Laurence Dunbar recorded 16 first downs and 175 yards of total offense.  The Bulldogs were penalized twice for 10 yards, lost five fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.

Peyton Burke led the ground game with 18 yards on five carries.  Peyton Burke completed 15 of 26 passes for 247 yards and five touchdowns with one interception.  Turner Gentry caught four passes for 50 yards and a touchdown.  Robbie Lofton added three receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown.  Jackson Beerman caught three passes for 56 yards and two touchdowns.  Jaden Baird recorded two receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown.  Sakima Opsal led the defense with 13 solo and three assisted tackles with four of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 23 yards.  Elijah Johnson added nine solo and two assisted tackles.  Dee Moorman recorded six solo and one assisted tackles.  Brody Sellers chipped in with four solo and two assisted tackles.  Jerrod Martin added three solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 18 yards and recovered two fumbles.  Drew Ransdell recovered two fumbles and returned one of them 11 yards for a touchdown.

Jefferson Harkless led Dunbar’s ground game with 86 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.  Nate Gay carried the ball 18 times for 47 yards and a touchdown.  Tre Homer recorded 26 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.  Tre Homer completed two of two passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.  Dontell Brown caught two passes for 56 yards and a touchdown.  DeRante Sanders led the defense with three solo and one assisted tackles.  Isaiah Yeast added three solo tackles.  Eros Zuniga recorded two sol and two assisted tackles.

Bryan Station defeated Cooper 36-0 in a game that was called with 24 seconds remaining in the third quarter due to weather conditions and glass on the field.  Bryan Station dominated play as Cooper was held to 77 yards of total offense.  Bryan Station recorded 14 first downs and 315 yards of total offense.  The Defenders were penalized four times for 33 yards and lost a fumble.  Cooper recorded three first downs and 77 yards of total offense.  They were penalized once for five yards.

Andre Davis led Bryan Station’s ground game with 124 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries.  Devon Key carried the ball seven times for 37 yards.  Andre Davis completed 11 of 20 yards for 141 yards and two touchdowns.  Rafael Few caught three passes for 48 yards.  Devon Key added two receptions for 69 yards and two touchdowns.  Mikel Horton led the defense with four solo and one assisted tackles with two of is tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards.  Devon Key added three solo and two assisted tackles.  Quinten Ford recorded two solo and three assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 11 yards.

Torey Cordell led Cooper’s ground game with 25 yards on 14 carries.  Nathan Brown completed three of 10 passes for 53 yards.  Dante Hendrix caught two passes for 48 yards.  Aidan Keller led the defense with five solo and two assisted tackles.  John Schlarman added four solo and two assisted tackles.  Seth Keller recorded four solo and one assisted tackles.

Anderson County defeated Mercer County by a score of 55-14.  Anderson County recorded 20 first downs and 476 yards of total offense.  The Bearcats were penalized five times for 30 yards and had a pass intercepted.  Mercer County recorded nine first downs and 188 yards of total offense.  The Titans were penalized four times for 22 yards, lost two fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.

Brydon Labhart led Anderson County’s ground game with 104 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries.  Tyler Peters carried the ball nine times for 75 yards and one touchdown.  Cobe Penny added 53 yards on three carries.  Gunner Gillis completed six of 12 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns with one interception.  Tyler Peters caught two passes for 89 yards and a touchdown.  Ryan Martin, Joseph Taylor, and Cade Cotton added touchdown receptions of 70, 29, and 25 yards respectively.  Brydon Labhart led the defense with six solo tackles.  Joseph Taylor, Tyler Green, and Cade Cotton each recorded three solo tackles.

Seth Tatum led Mercer County’s ground game with 21 yards on five carries.  Drew Davis completed eight of 19 passes for 153 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Malik Dow caught five passes for 118 yards and one touchdown.  Dustin Baker scored on a 99 yard kickoff return.  Grayson Blevins led the defense with 13 solo and one assisted tackles.  D. Smith and Dustin Baker each recorded four solo tackles.

Henry Clay defeated George Rogers Clark 35-13 in a game that was stopped with 3:53 left in the fourth quarter due to weather conditions.  Henry Clay recorded 17 first downs and 424 yards of total offense.  The Blue Devils were penalized nine times for 79 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.  George Rogers Clark recorded 16 first downs and 239 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized five times for 31 yards, lost three fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.

Davonte Robinson led Henry Clay’s ground game with 128 yards and two touchdowns on four carries.  Austin Bledsoe carried the ball 13 times for 126 yards.  CJ Tackett completed four of 10 passes for 82 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Marcus Tyler completed five of six passes for 47 yards and a touchdown.  Tyven McWhorter caught three passes for 51 yards and a touchdown.  Bray Berezowitz added two receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown.  Davonte Robinson led the defense with seven solo and one assisted tackles.  Amir Gatewood added five solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling three yards.  R. Scott County raced out to a 40-0 halftime lead on their way to a 54-28 victory over Highlands.  Scott County recorded 17 first downs and 473 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized eight times for 90 yards and lost a fumble.  Highlands recorded 13 first downs and 300 yards of total offense.  The Bluebirds were penalized three times for 25 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

Noah Hughes led Scott County’s ground game with 82 yards on seven carries.  Keith Guy carried the ball six times for 64 yards and two touchdowns.  Josh Davis added 52 yards and a touchdown on one carry.  Caleb Demus carried the ball four times for 43 yards.  Josh Davis completed seven of seven passes for 140 yards and one touchdown.  Cooper Robb completed two of three passes for 46 yards.  G. Covington caught six passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.  Jordan Darnell caught one pass for 57 yards.  Simon Bond scored on a 70 yard kickoff return.  Cooper Robb led the defense with three solo and two assisted tackles.  Gavin Hernandez added two solo and two assisted tackles.  Dylan Smith scored on an 18 yard fumble recovery.

Trinity scored early and often as they dominated in a 70-14 victory over Lafayette.  Trinity recorded 31 first downs and 509 yards of total offense.  The Shamrocks were penalized once for five yards.  Lafayette recorded seven first downs and 178 yards of total offense.  The Generals were penalized five times for 39 yards.

Jailen Reed led Trinity’s ground game with 163 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries.  Jovan Smith carried the ball nine times for 82 yards and a touchdown.  Jacob Woosley completed 14 of 16 passes for 201 yards and four touchdowns.  Rodjay Burns caught six passes for 105 yards and four touchdowns.  Rodjay Burns also scored on an 82 yard punt return.  Rodjay Burns led the defense with six solo tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards.  Vince Lococo added three solo tackles.  Damon Lowe also recorded three solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a nine yard loss.

M.
