Franklin County vs. Lafayette (Girls)

Franklin County coach Joey Thacker started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Dasia Kilbourne, 5-6 Jr. Sierra Newton, 5-10 Jr. Malaka Frank, 5-5 Jr. Anna Arrastia, and 5-4 So. Savannah Courtney.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 6-0 Sr. Dee Givens, 5-9 Jr. Aisha Conwell, 6-4 Sr. Ashanti Thomas, 5-3 So. Lataya Winn, and 6-0 So Kiara Pankins.

Lafayette led 61-46 with approximately three and a half minutes left in the game but Franklin County turned up the defensive pressure and went on a 20-0 run to earn a 66-61 victory over the Lady Generals.  There were six ties and five lead changes in the game.  Franklin County shot 36.1% from the field including seven of 20 from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 15 of 25 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 25 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 51.2% from the field including four of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Generals connected on 13 of 17 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Franklin County turnovers.

Dasia Kilbourne led Franklin County with 14 points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Anna Arrastia also scored 14 points.  5-4 Fr. Kindall Talley chipped in with 11 points.  Malaka Frank recorded eight points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Ashanti Thomas led Lafayette with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and six blocked shots.  Dee Givens added 18 points including three three point baskets, five assists, and two steals.  Kiara Pankins chipped in with 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  Aisha Conwell recorded six points and eight rebounds.
