Eastern Kentucky University raced out to a 16-0 lead but Indiana State rallied led by a 407 yard three touchdown passing performance by Mike Perish to earn a 36-16 victory and improve their record to 8-5.  Eastern Kentucky finishes their season at 9-4.  Indiana State led 24-16 late in the third quarter when Mark Sewall returned an interception 48 yards for a touchdown to break the game open and make the score 31-16.  Indiana State recorded 22 first downs and 456 yards of total offense.  The Sycamores were penalized six times for 60 yards and had two passes intercepted.  Eastern Kentucky recorded 19 first downs and 315 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized six times for 34 yards and had two passes intercepted.

Buck Logan led Indiana State’s ground game with 33 yards on 10 carries.  Mike Perish completed 41 of 57 passes for 407 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions.  AJ Johnson caught seven passes for 71 yards.  Jamar Brown added six receptions for 63 yards.  Gary Owens added six receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown.  Chris O’Leary also caught six passes for 34 yards.  Kyani Harris caught five yards for 91 yards and a touchdown.  Robert Tonyan added three receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown.  Kendall Walker led the defense with seven solo and three assisted tackles.  Mark Sewall added five solo and three assisted tackles and returned an intercepted pass 48 yards for a touchdown.  Garrick Ratliff recorded four solo and four assisted tackles.  Donovan Layne added one solo and seven assisted tackles.  Connor Underwood recorded three solo and two assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 11 yards.

Dy’Shawn Mobley led Eastern Kentucky’s ground game with 96 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries.  Bennie Coney completed 15 of 34 passes for 200 yards with two interceptions.  Jeff Glover caught four passes for 74 yards.  Dy’Shawn Mobley added three receptions for 38 yards.  Taylor Miller also caught three passes for 34 yards.  Devin Borders added two receptions for 32 yards.  Brandon Stanley led the defense with nine solo and six assisted tackles.  Kiante Northington added eight solo and two assisted tackles.  Tyrelle Johnson recorded three solo and seven assisted tackles.  Stanley Absanon intercepted two passes with a total of 18 return yards.

Class 1A Playoffs

 

Mayfield 35  Beechwood 24Landon Arnett completed eight of 14 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns and Lane Kennemore caught four passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns including a 99 yard scoring reception to lead Mayfield.

 

Williamsburg 34  Raceland 8Skyler Griffith ran for 120 yards and threw for a touchdown and Fred Massey ran for 110 yards and a touchdown as Williamsburg improves to 14-0.

 

Class 2A Playoffs

 

DeSales 14  Murray 7Frankie Tharp ran for two touchdowns to lead DeSales to a victory.

 

Newport Central Catholic 43  Shelby Valley 14Jacob Smith carried the ball nine times for 218 yards and three touchdowns and scored on a punt return to lead the victors.

 

Class 3A Playoffs

 

Belfry 33  Russell 0Austin Hatfield carried the ball 18 times for 104 yards and three touchdowns.

 

Central 16  South Warren 14 – Central forced four turnovers tonight and punter Michael Branch controlled field position as he punted nine times for a 40.2 average.  Ryan Witten carried the ball 22 times for 165 yards and two touchdowns to lead South Warren.

 

Class 4A Playoffs

 

Highlands 47  Lexington Catholic 26Griffin Urlage carried the ball 15 times for 2-2 yards and two touchdowns and Beau Hoge carried the ball 17 times for 147 yards and three touchdowns to lead Highlands.  Hoge also completed 13 of 25 passes for 181 yards and one touchdown.  Reese Ryan completed 31 of 48 passes for 351 yards and three touchdowns to lead Lexington Catholic.

 

Owensboro 27  North Oldham 24 – Owensboro won on a deflected 59 yard Hail Mary pass from Nick Locher to Kishawn Walker as time expired.

 

Class 5A Playoffs

 

Graves County 28  John Hardin 23Cody Crider carried the ball 25 times for 167 yards and two touchdowns and scored on a 50 yard fumble recovery return to lead Graves County to victory.

 

Pulaski County 33  Cooper 7Riley Hall completed 15 of 26 passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Maroons.

 

Class 6A Playoffs

 

Dixie Heights 48  Ballard 21Luke Zajac carried the ball for 105 yards and three touchdowns to lead Dixie Heights.

 

Trinity 48  Meade County 0Ryan Young completed 19 of 23 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown and Donald Brooks ran for three touchdowns to lead the Shamrocks.

Highlands utilized an explosive offense both on the ground and through the air to defeat Lexington Catholic by a score of 47-26.  Highlands recorded 27 first downs and 588 yards of total offense.  The Bluebirds were penalized seven times for 75 yards and lost a fumble.  Lexington Catholic recorded 20 first downs and 313 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized three times for 25 yards and lost two fumbles.  Highlands improves to 12-2 for the year while Lexington Catholic finishes their season at 10-4.

Griffin Urlage led Highland’s ground attack with 202 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.  Beau Hoge carried the ball 17 times for 147 yards and three touchdowns.  Nick Kendall added 55 yards on 14 carries.  Beau Hoge completed 13 of 25 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown.  Alex Veneman caught eight passes for 106 yards and a touchdown.  Austin Beal led the defense with nine solo tackles.  Daniel Kremer added five solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 26 yards.  Jacob Noe recorded four solo and three assisted tackles with a fumble recovery he returned 33 yards.  Brady Murray added five solo tackles with four of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 16 yards.  DJ Mills recorded four solo and one assisted tackles with three of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 27 yards and recovered a fumble.

JJ Ogbogu led Lexington Catholic’s ground game with 15 yards and a touchdown on two carries.  Reese Ryan completed 31 of 48 passes for 351 yards and three touchdowns.  Donovan Morris caught nine passes for 106 yards and a touchdown.  JJ Ogbogu added seven receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown.  Andy Thompson recorded five catches for 64 yards and a touchdown.  Cody Mitchell led the defense with 12 solo and two assisted tackles with 2.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards.  Chase Boling added 11 solo and two assisted tackles.  Braxton Couch recorded five solo and one assisted tackles.

Cincinnati Clermont College coach Greg Himes started the following lineup: 6-6 Fr. Tommy Hacker, 6-4 Fr. Phil Cook, 6-7 So. Curt Wesp, 5-8 Jr. Ricky Garcia, and 6-3 Fr. Terry Sparks.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Jeff Neubauer countered with 6-7 Sr. Timmy Knipp, 6-7 Jr. Ja’Mill Powell, 6-8 Sr. Eric Stutz, 6-2 Sr. Corey Walden, and 6-2 So. Isaac McGlone.

Eastern Kentucky University dominated action tonight in a 115-50 victory over Cincinnati Clermont College.  Eastern Kentucky shot 52.6% from the field including 11 of 35 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 22 of 28 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 43 points off 32 Clermont turnovers.  Clermont shot 30.8% from the field including seven of 22 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored three points off four Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

Eric Stutz led Eastern Kentucky with 23 points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Stutz was 10 of 10 from the field including one for one from the three point line and two of two free throws.  6-4 So. Jaylen Babb-Harrison added 22 points including three three point baskets and six steals.  Corey Walden recorded 18 points and five rebounds.  Ja’Mill Powell chipped in with 17 points.  Isaac McGlone had a “busy” stat line tonight with seven points, six rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.

Tommy Hacker led Clermont with 11 points and eight rebounds.  Curt Wesp added nine points and seven rebounds.  6-0 Fr. Logan Cummins also scored nine points on three three point baskets.  Phil Cook chipped in with seven points and four rebounds.

Florida dominated play in a 52-3 victory over Eastern Kentucky University to improve their record to 6-4.  Eastern Kentucky University falls to 9-3 for the season.  Florida recorded 17 first downs and 430 yards of total offense.  The Gators were penalized five times for 45 yards and lost a fumble.  Eastern Kentucky recorded 12 first downs and 142 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized eight times for 71 yards and lost a fumble.

Adam Lane led Florida’s ground game with 60 yards on five carries.  Treon Harris completed four of 12 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns.  Jeff Driskel completed nine of 11 passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns.  DeMarcus Robinson caught four passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns.  Quinton Dunbar added three receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns.  Michael McNeely added two receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown.  Michael Taylor led the defense with three solo and six assisted tackles.  Marcus Maye added two solo and five assisted tackles.  Alex McCalister recorded three solo tackles with his tackles resulting in losses totaling 16 yards.

Jared Sanders led Eastern Kentucky’s ground game with 25 yards on two carries.  Dy’Shawn Mobley carried the ball eight times for 23 yards.  Bennie Coney completed eight of 19 passes for 43 yards.  Barton Mann completed three of six passes for five yards.  Jared McClain completed all three of his passes for 15 yards.  Scott Daniel caught five passes for 18 yards.  Dy’Shawn Mobley added three receptions for 11 yards.  Jeff Glover caught two passes for 30 yards.  Brandon Stanley led the defense with five solo and two assisted tackles.  Chris Kelly added three solo and four assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in an eight yard loss.

Class 1A Playoffs

 

Beechwood 46  Frankfort 21Ethan Stringer carried the ball 30 times for 165 yards and three touchdowns and Joe Studer added 137 yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries to lead Beechwood.

Mayfield 42  Russellville 13Trajon Bright carried the ball 19 times for 259 yards and four touchdowns.

Raceland 32  Paintsville 21Josh Young ran for two touchdowns including a 63 yard run.

Williamsburg 48  Hazard 14 – Williamsburg improves their record to 13-0.

 

Class 2A Playoffs

 

DeSales 7  Christian Academy of Louisville 6Trent Jones blocks the extra point to ensure the victory.

Murray 47  Caldwell County 28Miles Desjahvonni completed seven of 13 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns to lead Murray.  Caldwell County led 28-14 in the third quarter but Murray rallied for the victory.  Caldwell County QB Elijah Sindelar left the game in the first quarter with a knee injury.

Newport Central Catholic 42  Newport 26Jake Smith carried the ball 27 times for 176 yards and five touchdowns.

Shelby Valley 20  Prestonsburg 14 OT – The defense forced a turnover in overtime and Chandler Rowe scored the winning touchdown.

 

Class 3A Playoffs

 

Belfry 48  Lawrence County 14Austin Hatfield carried the ball 10 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

Central 36  Corbin 33 – Central rallied from a 26-0 deficit to win on an untimed play after time expired (a penalty was called on Corbin) on an eight yard touchdown pass from Myron Norfleet to Kambrin BrownMyron Norfleet completed 22 of 30 passes for 214 yards and four touchdowns.  Corbin was led by Jake Coppock who carried the ball 33 times for 221 yards and two touchdowns.

Russell 17  Bourbon County 7Jacob McKee and Nick Conley each scored a touchdown for Russell.

South Warren 36  Paducah Tilghman 0 - Austin McElwain scored three touchdowns for South Warren.

 

Class 4A Playoffs

North Oldham 47  Fairdale 18 – North Oldham threw the entire offensive package at Fairdale as Chris Webb and Arien Beasley each ran for over 100 yards, Taylor Heckenberg threw for four touchdowns, and Matt Clark caught four touchdown passes and scored on a 99 yard kickoff return.

Owensboro 29  Madisonville- North Hopkins 28 – Owensboro rallied from a 21-6 deficit to earn the victory.

 

Class 5A Playoffs

 

Cooper 61  Anderson County 14Torey Cordell-Armstrong carried the ball 31 times for 351 yards and four touchdowns.

Graves County 7  Bowling Green 0 Cory Crider scored on a 1 yard touchdown run snapping Bowling Green’s 53 game winning streak against Kentucky opponents.

John Hardin 7  Iroquois 6 – John Hardin blocked an extra point attempt to secure the win.

Pulaski County 24  Southwestern 16Riley Hall completed 17 of 26 passes for 203 yards and Caleb Cox ran for three touchdowns to lead the Maroons.

 

Class 6A Playoffs

 

Ballard 14  Butler 7Kenshawn Washington scored on a 4 yard QB option play to give Ballard the victory.

Dixie Heights 24  Simon Kenton 0 Drew Moore carried the ball 14 times for 183 yards and Luke Zajac added 143 yards on 25 carries and the Colonels’ defense was rock solid tonight.

Meade County 30  Central Hardin 8 – Meade County avenged an earlier loss this season and knocked Central Hardin from the unbeaten ranks.

Trinity 9  St. Xavier 3 – Trinity recorded eight QB sacks and Rodjay Burns intercepted two passes tonight.

Cooper rolled up 468 yards and six touchdowns on the ground on 48 rushing attempts (9.8 average) and the defense forced six turnovers in a 61-14 victory over Anderson County.  Cooper recorded 19 first downs and 482 yards of total offense.  The Jaguars were penalized once for 12 yards.  Anderson County recorded 14 first downs and 244 yards of total offense.  The Bearcats were penalized four times for 30 yards, lost two fumbles, and had four passes intercepted.

Torey Cordell-Armstrong led Cooper’s ground attack with 351 yards and four touchdowns on 31 carries.  Billy Prickett carried the ball five times for 51 yards and a touchdown.  Jaden Jackson added 44 yards on seven carries.  Billy Prickett completed two of four passes for 14 yards and a touchdown.  Tyson Jackson caught one pass for 10 yards.  Cole Willging caught a four yard touchdown reception.  Marcus Watson led the defense with five solo and three assisted tackles.  Seth Keller added five solo and one assisted tackles with one tackle resulting in a four yard loss.  Justin Parks scored on a 27 yard fumble recovery and Aidan Keller returned an intercepted pass 58 yards for a touchdown.  Nathan Brown intercepted two passes with 27 yards return yardage.

Brayden Russell led Anderson County’s ground game with 64 yards and a touchdown on eight carries.  Chris Toomey carried the ball seven times for 40 yards.  Zach Carmichael completed five of 17 passes for 73 yards and a touchdown with four interceptions.  JP Garmon caught three passes for 23 yards.  Chris Toomey caught one pass for 38 yards.  Landon Curry caught a 12 yard touchdown reception.

Lexington Catholic held on to defeat Boyle County in another installment of their classic match-ups by a score of 40-35.  Lexington Catholic improves to 10-3 while Boyle County finishes their season at 11-2; both of their losses to Lexington Catholic.  Boyle County had one last chance but a fourth down pass fell incomplete and LexCath took over with 56 seconds left in the game.  Lexington Catholic recorded 14 first downs and 414 yards of total offense.  The Knights were penalized five times for 46 yards and lost a fumble.  The Knights had several long distance scores tonight including touchdown receptions of 33, 67, and 68 yards and a 100 yard kickoff return.  Boyle County recorded 19 first downs and 442 yards of total offense.  The Rebels were penalized nine times for 93 yards.  The Rebels also had scoring receptions of 68 and 34 yards and scored on an 89 yard kickoff return.

Reese Ryan led Lexington Catholic’s ground attack with 102 yards on eight carries.  Jaylen Jones carried the ball 21 times for 51 yards and a touchdown.  Reese Ryan completed 14 of 17 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns.  JJ Ogbogu caught six passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns.  Andy Thompson added three receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown.  Andy Thompson returned three kickoffs for 159 yards including a return of 100 yards for a touchdown.  Chase Boling led the defense with 10 solo and two assisted tackles.  Braxton Couch added nine solo and two assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards.  Cody Mitchell recorded six solo and two assisted tackles.  Joey Griggs punted twice tonight for a 47.5 yard average per punt.

Erik Brown led Boyle County’s ground game with 49 yards and a touchdown on five carries.  Josiah Robbins carried the ball 13 times for 25 yards.  Josiah Robbins completed 19 of 32 passes for 335 yards and two touchdowns.  Keagen Hinkle caught seven passes for 113 yards.  Jase Sharp added four catches for 118 yards and a touchdown.  Zach Leigh added four receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown.  Erik Brown returned four kickoffs for 139 yards including a return for 89 yards and a touchdown.  Erik Brown led the defense with six solo and three assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling three yards.  Hagen Ellis added six solo and one assisted tackles with 3.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling six yards.  Brandon Devins recorded five solo tackles.

Jesse Clark claims the Fayette County Middle School Championship with a 22-8 victory over Edith Hayes.  The score was tied 8-8 late in the first half when Jesse Clark’s T. Newcomb raced 69 yards with a kickoff return to take a 14-8 halftime lead.  Jesse Clark added a touchdown and a two point conversion late in the game to ensure the victory.  Jesse Clark recorded 11 first downs and 179 yards of total offense.  They were penalized once for one yard.  Edith Hayes recorded six first downs and 120 yards of total offense.  They were penalized four times for 29 yards.

Jaylen Lawson led Jesse Clark’s ground game with 74 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.  Jimmie Johnson carried the ball nine times for 58 yards.  T. Newcomb added 24 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.  Jesse Clark did not attempt a pass tonight.  T. Newcomb also added a touchdown on a 69 yard kickoff return.  Jaylen Lawson led the defense with three solo and four assisted tackles.  Tyler Moore added three solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a 13 yard loss.  Justin Bentley recorded four solo tackles.

D. Tresvant led Edith Hayes’ ground game with 67 yards on 11 carries.  Luke Powell completed six of 11 passes for 58 yards.  L. Kentucky Christian University coach Grady Lowe started the following lineup: 6-3 Fr. Matthew Lee, 6-3 Sr. Ace Puckett, 6-3 So. Caleb Ford, 5-10 So. Tyler Carrier, and 6-0 Sr. Tyler Farley.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Jeff Neubauer countered with 6-7 Sr. Timmy Knipp, 6-7 Jr. Ja’Mill Powell, 6-8 Sr. Eric Stutz, 6-2 Sr. Corey Walden, and 6-2 So. Isaac McGlone.

Eastern Kentucky scored 56 points off 36 Kentucky Christian turnovers and recorded 16 three point baskets in a 115-35 victory tonight.  Eastern Kentucky shot 61.15 from the field including 16 of 28 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 56 points of 36 Kentucky Christian turnovers.  The Colonels recorded 20 steals and held a 65-13 advantage in bench scoring.  Kentucky Christian shot 32.5% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc.  They connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored four points off nine Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

Jaylen Babb-Harrison led seven Colonels in double figures with 28 points including six three point baskets and pulled down seven rebounds.  6-5 Jr. Denzel Richardson added 18 points.  Eric Stutz recorded 13 points and six rebounds.  Timmy Knipp added 12 points and eight rebounds.  Corey Walden recorded 11 points, six assists, and three steals.  Ja’Mill Powell and 6-1 Fr. Paul Jackson each scored 10 points and Isaac McGlone recorded five steals.

Caleb Ford led Kentucky Christian with 10 points and seven rebounds.  Tyler Farley added eight points including two three point baskets.  6-6 Sr. Boyce Wooten also scored eight points.
