Lexington Catholic coach Scott True started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Rachel Blake, 5-9 Jr. Caroline Lynch, 5-10 Sr. Hannah Gadberry, 5-5 Jr. Bailey Browning, and 5-5 Sr. Suzanne Miller.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-11 Jr. Dee Givens,5-11 Fr. Kiara Pankins, 6-4 Jr. Ashanti Thomas, 5-7 Sr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-8 Sr. Ken’yale Demus.

Dee Givens hit a three point basket at the buzzer to give Lafayette a 49-46 victory over Lexington Catholic.  There were eight lead changes and nine ties in this game.  Lafayette led 27-19 early in the third quarter but Lexington Catholic rallied to tie the game.  Lafayette shot 37.8% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 11 points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lafayette held an 18-7 advantage in second effort points.  Lexington Catholic shot 44.45 from the field including seven of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 13 points off nine Lafayette turnovers.

Dee Givens led Lafayette with 21 points including three three point baskets and eight rebounds.  Kiara Pankins added 15 points and five rebounds.  Ashanti Thomas pulled down seven rebounds and blocked three shots.

Bailey Browning led Lexington Catholic with 22 points including five three point baskets and four assists.  Rachel Blake added 11 points and Caroline Lynch chipped in with eight points.  Hannah Gadberry pulled down six rebounds.

Lafayette     7  18  12  12 – 49

 

Lexington Catholic (46) – Blake 11, Lynch 8, Gadberry 2, Browning 22, Miller 0, Cornett 1, Osbourn 2.

 

Lafayette (49) – Givens 21, Pankins 15, Thomas 3, Nagahiro 1, K. Demus 6, S. Demus 3.
