Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Dee Givens, 5-11 Fr. Kiara Pankins, 6-4 Jr. Ashanti Thomas, 5-7 Sr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-8 Sr. Ken’yale Demus. Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Sarah Bridenbaugh countered with 5-10 Jr. Nicole Armstrong, 5-6 Jr. Kristina Rosen, 6-2 Sr. Brooke Todd, 5-4 So. Ezzy Ighodaro, and 5-4 Sr. ShaKeema Jackson.
Dunbar led 29-25 at halftime but Lafayette outscored the Lady Bulldogs 17-5 in the third quarter on their way to a 62-44 victory as they held Dunbar to 14.8% from the field after the intermission. There were seven lead changes and five ties in this game. Lafayette shot 37.3% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line. The Lady Generals connected on 18 of 27 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 12 Dunbar turnovers. Dunbar shot 24.2% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bulldogs connected on nine of 19 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored six points off 11 Lafayette turnovers.
Dee Givens led Lafayette with 25 points including three three point baskets, 16 rebounds, and six steals. Kiara Pankins added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ken’yale Demus chipped in with 11 points including three three point baskets. Ashanti Thomas recorded eight points, six rebounds, and four blocked shots.
ShaKeema Jackson led Dunbar with 17 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds. Brooke Todd added 14 points, 16 rebounds, and seven blocked shots. Ezzy Ighodaro recorded six points and eight rebounds.
