SOUTHERN LANDMARKS
Kathleen's travels and her
particular fascination with The South inspired a series of paintings
from various states, including, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina,
North Carolina and Tennessee. From here you'll be able to see
some of the scenery that has inspires her work.

"Tabby Manse"

 The
Thomas Fuller Mansion in Beaufort, South Carolina has always held my
fascination. Tabby construction was typical in the Low Country
in many pre-Civil War structures. You can visit many historical
sites in the Low Country and still see the remains of tabby walls.
Tabby is a cement first made
along the coast by the Spaniards in the early 1500's. They burned
shells to extract lime, then mixed it with sand and shells and shaped
it in great wooden molds to form durable walls and pillars. |

Church, near Beaufort, South Carolina was built
before the Revolutionary War. It was burned
during that war and later re-built. It was again
burned during the Civil War.
