Paradise does exist...in the rain forests of Costa Rica. Or at least that is our opinion. My husband and I spent 12 lovely days in Costa Rica for our honeymoon, and we already can't wait to go back.
These pages are here for you to peruse and hopefully, to inspire a few of you to visit this wonderful country. If you are interested in hiking, river rafting, nature, ecology, adventure, etc. then Costa Rica is a perfect choice for a vacation. You will learn all about the ecosystems and come home
with an even deeper appreciation for nature. Costa Rica is unique in its political and sociological structure, too. It is a democratic nation, with no standing army, for example. Both of the guide books mentioned in the resources section will give you plenty of background. The resources section also provides links and other information on planning a trip to Costa Rica.
We stayed in just the northern zone of Costa Rica, in the provinces of Alajuela and Heredia.
We were there in mid-October, which is part of their rainy, or green season. We found the weather to be quite nice; it's not too hot, and the rains are pretty predictable. We found that going during the off season was a great advantage in terms of service and crowds.
Follow the links to see photos and read comments on the areas we visited. All of the photos here are small files. Some quality is sacrificed for quick loading times.
