The Saiya-jin saga starts out Dragonball Z. Is starts with an alien named Raditz that lands on Earth, he then has a fight with Piccolo but suddenly leaves. At the same time Gokuu, Kuririn and Buruma show up at Muten Roshi’s house for a reunion. They exchange hellos and Buruma notices a kid with Gokuu. Gokuu tells them it is his son, Son Gohan (named after Gokuu’s Granfather). Buruma also notices Soshinkyü (4 stared ball) on Gohan’s hat. But just then Gokuu notices something. He sensed the alien coming right to them.Raditz lands and….. they look the same! He says that Gokuu name is really Kakarrot, that they are both aliens called Saiya-jins, and that they are both BROTHERS!! Kuririn goes up to him and Raditz easily kicks him a side. After some talking, Raditz and Son do a little brawling, but Raditz won. He tells Gokuu to kill 200 people or he will never see Gohan again and Raditz leaves. Gokuu gets up and calls for Nimbus. The other 3 stop him and they decide that Master Muten and Kuririn are going to help Goku. Right when they are about to leave, Piccolo stops them. He tells them that they are week (what else is new) and that Gokuu and him should go. After some reasoning they leave. They are able to track them if you remember because Gohan had a dragonball on his hat.
When they get to Raditz’s space ship they immediately start fighting, but not before Gokuu and Piccolo can remove there weighted clothing. After some fighting Piccolo tells Gokuu to keep Raditz busy wile he builds for his best attack (at that time), the Makkankoupousou (Special Beam Cannon). There is just one problem, it takes a long time to charge. So Gokuu starts in on Raditz with a Kamehameha (learned in Dragonball by watching Roshi do it). Raditz blocks Gokuu’s attack, but his scouter tells him of Piccolo's move he is charging. He yells, “I can’t block that”. Piccolo fires but did not aim it right and just missed. With the distraction from Piccolo’s move, Gokuu is able to grab Raditz’s tail. This makes Raditz unable to move. But sense Gokuu has a soft heart Raditz easily talks his way out of it. All this time Gohan is building some unknown power that Raditz noticed earlier. He busts out of the space capsule Raditz locked him in and flies, head first, at Raditz and cracks his armor. Gokuu grabs Raditz again and holds him. Piccolo charges his move one last time. Gokuu and Raditz both are killed by this shot, but they die right after Piccolo spills the beans about the dragonballs. Raditz tells Piccolo that 2 other Saiya-jin warriors just over heard the conversation and tells them that they will be at Earth in 1 year. Every one trains and Gohan is put on special training from Piccolo. Gokuu is sent to King Kai who is going to build Gokuu’s power lever by a huge amount. But, he has to run though Snake Way, a long snake-like path that has many challenges. He overcomes this and arrives at King Kai's planet where he trains and gets stronger.
One year later the other 2 Saiya-jins, Vegeta and Nappa, arrive. The day before, Buruma had wished Gokuu back alive, so he was on his way. Nappa and Vegeta wanted to test the Z warriors' power so, they send out the Saibamen. The Saibamen seem to be on the same level as the Z warriors. In fact, Yamcha is killed by a simple move, hold on to your opponent and self-distruct. As a result, the Z warriors kill some of the Saibamen, but Vegeta kills one because he thinks the Saibamen are weak. Now, all the Saibamen are gone and Nappa steps up to fight. Chaozu fights him first. Chaozu is no match for Nappa, so Chaozu tries the attack that Yamcha died by, but does not succeed and passes on to the next dimension. The next to fight is Tenshinhan. He is no match either and gets killed in action. Piccolo tries, but also is no match for the power house that is Nappa. Then, arrives the savior, Gokuu. Gokuu wipes the floor with Nappa. Vegeta is upset by this and kills Nappa for being such a weak fighter. Then Gokuu tells the remaining fighters, Kuririn and Gohan, to go and find a safe place. Finaly, Gokuu and Vegeta fight. Gokuu is really strong and Vegeta seems surprised at his strength. Vegeta has no other choice but to destroy the planet. Vegeta attacks the planet with his attack called Galic Gun. Gokuu counters his attack by using the famous attack, Kamehameha. The Kamehameha is not strong enough to hold the Galic Gun so Gokuu adds the Kaio-Ken X4 and over powers Vegeta. Gokuu's attack throws Vegeta into space, temporarily.
When Vegeta gets back, he notices that the moon is not there (Piccolo destroyed it) and makes a ball of energy. He throws it up and makes it explode. He looks at it and starts to change. He tells Gokuu that if he had a tail, he could change as well. Gokuu is then hit with the pain of knowing he killed his Grandfather. (see Dragonball to know what I am talking about). At this same time Kuririn and Gohan are flying away when they notice the ball of light and head back. Gokuu it seems it having problems with this beast (Oozaru). And does the Solar Flair to hold him. Gokuu starts to gather energy for the Genki-Dama (Spirit Bomb). Right when Gokuu finishes it, Vegeta Mouth Blasts him, and Gokuu says he was not expecting that. Vegeta steps on Gokuu and breaks his legs. Kuririn and Gohan show up and Gohan distracts Vegeta and Kuririn does his Disructo Disc. Vegeta dodges it. But out of no were, Yajirobe comes out and slices Vegeta’s tail off and he returns to normal. After that Gohan and Vegeta fight and Gokuu gives Kuririn energy to form a Genki-Dama. Kuririn throws it at Vegeta and misses. It heads strait for Gohan! Gokuu quickly tells Gohan to bounce it back! He does and it hits Vegeta. After Vegeta recovers, Gohan looks at the artificial moon and goes Oozaru. He beats the crap out of Vegeta. Vegeta decided to finally leave. Kuririn grabs a sward and right before he kills Vegeta, Gokuu tells him to stop. After the group get back together, and with Vegeta gone, they talk about getting the others restored because Piccolo had dies and that mean Kami did to. They remember Kami being from a different planet and the decide to go there. They get a ship and leave.
