In FUNimation's Defence!

I've got something to say. I just want to make my comment about the whole FUNimation thing. I want to start off by thanking FUNimation. FUNimation did a great thing for the anime world (not as good as all that has been done for Pokemon though). It has brought DB and DBZ from across the Pacific Ocean for us to enjoy. And what do they get in return? Hate mail. If it wasn't for them, many Americans (referring to the US) would have not been exposed to the wonderful world of Dragonball.

Yeah, I know that they didn't keep the music, edited it, and used bad voice actors with cheesy lines, but to a TRUE Dragonball fan, it is better than nothing. Instead of sending them hate mail, you can make well written suggestions. By sending them hate mail with a bunch of bad words that shows that you are not a well educated person, or a mature one for that manner.

But FUNimation is trying to make their fans happy. They made "uncensored" versions available for sale. The reason why they can't show them uncut on the Cartoon Network is because of all the lawsuits going around. The Cartoon Network is aimed for a younger audience (although I don't think that shows like Cow & Chicken are appropriate for little kids, but we're not talking about that at this moment). If they were to show them uncut, some parents would complain or sue FUNimation AND the Cartoon Network for exposing their children to violence and brief nudity (although there isn't THAT much violence in Dragonball, and most little kids have seen babies get a diaper change). Most Americans see something wrong with nudity, as if it was something out of this world, and so FUNimation couldn't leave it in. But the point that I am trying to make is that FUNimation is NOT purposely trying to ruin Dragonball. They are just making some adjustments to protect themselves along with others.

Now about the fansubs (most of you should know what they are, but if you don't, they are video tapes with Japanese cartoons with subtitles done by fans). Okay, many people are also getting mad at FUNimation for wanting the distribution of fansubs to cease. Now try to see it from their point of view. If they allow people to sell something that they have the rights to, they will just be loosing money. Thus they won't make enough money to make more episodes.

I can also see it the other way. Will we have to wait another 3 years to the entire series? If they release all of the episodes, well yeah, but you have to understand that the only way to see all of the series in the American version is to keep on buying FUNimation released Dragonball. So support FUNimation!

I know I have no right to tell you what to do, but I have tried help you make the right choice. So what I would do (if I hadn't seen the entire series already) is to wait to see if they release more episodes. If it looks like if they stopped already, then I would go ahead and buy the fansubs. But for now, you can look forward to the new episodes that are being released by FUNimation. Well, that's pretty much all I have to say. If you have any comments, please feel free to e-mail me.
