Step 1

The hook, straightened and cut off

1. Straighten out a 2/0 Mustad 36890 Salmon Hook with pliers and snip off the end. These Mustad hooks are as not as brittle as other salmon hooks and will bend without snapping. Sand or file smooth the part of the hook shank you have cut.

2. Place the straightened hook in your vice and wrap the tying thread. I have brought the thread forward to tie in dumbbell eyes.
