Cigar Butt

Name Cigar Butt
Category Steelhead Surface Fly
Tail White calf tail
Body Natural deer body hair spun and trimmed to look like a discarded "White Owl Panatela"
Wing White calf tail

Cigar Butt is one of the patterns that can be found in  Dick Stewart and Farrow Allen's fine book, Flies for Steelhead and other fly tying publications.  I show it here because it perhaps the simplest form of the bomber and thus one of the easiest to tie. It can also be tied with a throat of stiff moose hair. To see more flies in the series, return to Favorite Surface Flies for Steelhead.
