Name Pooldozer
Category Steelhead Surface Fly
Tail Dark coastal deer hair
Body Natural caribou body hair, spun and clipped
Wing Short piece of packaging foam, trimmed into a small triangle and extended forward over the eye of the hook
Head and Collar Dyed rusty-brown deer body hair, sun and left untrimmed

Dick Stewart and Farrow Allen, in their book, Flies for Steelhead, describe the Pooldozer, originated by Dr. Wes Terasaki, as "an easily-tied hair body skater". I chose it for this series to show an example of the amount of variation in  bomber/skater type flies. To see more flies in the series,  and read more about this fly, return to Favorite Surface Flies for Steelhead.
