Here are a few of the more popular helmets.
Morse Diving currently
manufactures the MkV Model 1 and other classic helmets.Morse will
also make a custom helmet to your specifications. The photo above
is of the last Morse MkV made in the 20th century.
The helmet pictured above is
manufactured by Nick Toth at A.Lerios Marine in Tarpon Springs
Florida. Nick continues the business that his grandfather began
shortly after the turn of the century, manufacturing classic
sponge diving helmets. Nick builds these helmets one at a time by
hand and they are truely spectacular.
The Russians currently
manufacture several different helmets. These helmets are very
functional although the fit and finish is not what you would
expect from a helmet manufactured in the U.S.A..
The Chinese currently
manufacture diving helmets. These helmets are very functional
although the fit and finish is not what you would expect from a
helmet manufactured in the U.S.A. The rough finish could be
corrected by a motivated do-it-yourselfer.
