Yialia or Gyalia Beach is a beautiful small beach with flat stones and dark sand on the north side of the island of Alonissos. The beach is located in a bay nearby Vrysitsa Beach and it is flanked by a restored windmill, where you sometimes can buy a refreshment. The beach is accessible by car or on foot from the Chora via an unpaved road (update: there is a new new asphalt road going to Yialia beach).
The distance to Chora is about 4 kilometre (5 to 10 minute drive) and the walk over there takes about twenty to thirty minutes.
In the sea at Gyalia Beach there are some rocks and because the beach is situated in the north of the island there can be some wind from time to time as well. At Gyalia there is also a spring which makes the sea water quite cold. Summarised: a picturesque beach that you might want to go and have a look at, but if you are looking for long time sunbathing and swimming there are maybe better options.
