B'ni Cavalier
Primary Weapon: The "Lance", a medium-range high-powered plasma burst. Secondary Weapon: EM Disrupter, long-range control scrambler.
The Cavaliers are the highest rank of the B'ni caste system, the warriors and leaders. The name is given both to the ship itself (which is a sentient being, a ben Sorontur) and to the crew, the ben Nan. The ship looks like any other ben Sorontur, encased in a transparent armour shell, with a long, slightly off-centre projection at the front (the Lance) and a flare at the back containing hyperdrive motor, and the crew pod for the ben Nan, who service the hyperdrive and weapons.
The Lance emits a high-energy plasma burst, similar to the Dreadnought's fusion bolts but faster (both in speed and firing rate). It can also fire an EM Disrupter, a slower-moving but extremely long range energy weapon which, should it strike the target, immediately knocks out all ability to manoeuvre or thrust temporarily, drains the target's battery, and temporarily switches off the ship's recharge capacity. The main flaw in this powerful weapon is that it is slow moving, and doesn't track targets.
The Cavalier is, like all adult ben Sorontur, slightly larger than the Herald Eradicator, and extremely manoeuvrable, with fast acceleration but low top speed, kept that way due to the fact that the Cavalier is alive, and therefore has a much lower reaction time than a navigational computer. Nonetheless, an extremely dangerous foe.
