Vyro-Ingo/Vux Pacifier

Vyro-Ingo-Vux Pacifier

Primary Weapon: Forward-firing powerful medium-short-range gigawatt laser cannon. Secondary Weapon: Friend-or-Foe Limpet Mines. Special Features: Overdrive mode vastly increases speed and manoeuvrability, but mines cannot be dropped and batteries do more charge in overdrive mode.

Named for its ability to completely cripple a ship without harming a single crewmember, the Pacifier has been widely hailed as the first of the next generation of warships. Combining the strongest features of the Vyro-Ingo Invader and the Vux Intruder, the Pacifier is the strongest mass-produced ship in existence, rivalling even the Avatar or the Dreadnought. The laser cannon is identical to that on the Intruder, and as such a slightly weaker version of the Avatar's laser.

The limpet mines, however, are a vast improvement over the Intruder's limpet cocoons. The mines, once dropped, can wait indefinitely for an enemy ship to pass within close range. Once one does, they burst in spray of limpet cocoons. If a cocoon strikes a ship, it burrows in, hatching a limpet, damaging control planes and increasing the ship's mass, thus making it slower and less manoeuvrable. The cocoons, however, decay swiftly unless they reach a ship in time to hatch. This can slow a ship down, after a while, to the painfully slow and ungainly Pacifier's speed, and would in itself make the Pacifier an immensely powerful ship. However, the addition of Vyro-Ingo engine technology has given the Pacifier an overdrive, which makes it an awesomely powerful weapon.

The overdrive makes the Pacifier the fastest and most manoeuvrable ship of its size (approximately equivalent in mass to an Avatar or Dreadnought and slightly smaller than an Eradicator; with overdrive activated it moves and turns as quickly as the Vyro-Ingo Invader), at a relatively minor cost: the limpet mines cannot survive launch at that velocity, and the Pacifier's battery power reserves do not recharge while the overdrive is engaged.
