When you log onto to Battle.net, an icon will appear next to your name that designates what software you used to log on, and what game (if any) you can currently play. Here are the icons you will see while on Battle.net.

Blizzard Employee An authorized representative of Blizzard Entertainment |

Battle.net System Administrator An authorized representative of Battle.net |

Channel Operator (Private Channels Only) Can kick or ban people from the Channel. Can designate who gets the "gavel" when they leave the channel, otherwise the next person from the top gets it. |
 |
Squelched Player Appears next to a persons name who has been "squelched" or "ignored". You will no longer see this person's messages. |
 |
Diablo Player Currently logged onto Battle.net and can play Diablo. |
 |
Diablo Shareware Player Currently logged onto Battle.net and can play Diablo Shareware. |
 |
Starcraft Player Currently logged onto Battle.net and can play Starcraft. |
 |
Starcraft Shareware
Player Currently logged onto Battle.net and can play Starcraft Shareware. |
 |
Starcraft Brood War Player Currently logged onto Battle.net and can play Starcraft: Brood War. |
 |
Battle.net Chat Participant Designates the person is logged onto Battle.net through a chat client. These people are currently unable to start or play games, they can only chat. |
 |
Speaker Can be heard by everyone in a Moderated Channel. (such as Blizzard's webmaster chats) |
 |
PGL Official An authorized representative of the Professional Gamers League. |
 |
PGL Player A registered competitor in the Professional Gamers League. |
