All games start with 1 "town hall" (Command Center, Nexus, or Hatchery), 4 workers and 50 minerals EXCEPT "Use Map Settings".


Melee - The normal game, where you can ally with people.

Free for All - The normal game, but no alliances are allowed and shared vision is turned off.

One on One - It's you against one other opponent.

Ladder - This is like Free for All - No alliances, No shared vision, and you are limited to the approved ladder maps. 2 to 4 players, and you cannot play on the fastest game setting.

Use Map Settings - These are for the special scenarios that have mission briefings, map-specific Triggers and Objectives (special victory conditions) Uses the map's preset starting forces and resources.

Capture the Flag (CTF) - Each player controls a flag, it'll pop up after a few minutes. You can move the flag once, at the beginning of the game. Flags can be carried by workers (scv's, drones and probes). Capture your enemies flag and return it to your beacon (flag location) and that enemy is eliminated.

Greed - First player to gather the specified amount of BOTH minerals and gas wins.

Sudden Death - If you lose ANY Command Center, Nexus, or Hatchery you lose the game.

Slaughter - Who ever kills the most in the allowed time wins !



Team Games = 2 or more players create a team and work with a common pool of resources and starting units to try and defeat the other player. A team can consist of multiple races.


Team Melee - Same as Melee, but with alliances (teams).
