Most nights
we meet at Millar Hall where a typical programme would follow this format:
7:30 Flag break/Inspection
7:40 Game (for example, numbers football).
7:55 Award work/Main activity (for example, pioneering).
8:20 Game (for example, Mini Marathon).
8:35 Quiz/Rellay based on a theme in patrols (for example, first aid).
8:55 Game (for example, dodgy ball).
9:10 The final burst (for example, knots).
9:25 Flag down/notices/closing prayer.
On other nights may go on a night hikes, have a wide game, swimming, help with scout post, out door cooking, construct a large pioneering project (for example, a bridge) or visit a local place of interest.
At the 75th, our main aim is that all our Scouts have fun in all they do, whether that be playing a game or completing award work. As progressing through the award system is the key issue that makes Scouting different from other youth organizations, the Scouts at the 75th spend many of their troop meeting nights gaining more ticks on their record cards. We try to make the award work as fun as it can possibly be and Scouts often gain ticks without knowing they are actually doing award work at the time.
