Mortal:

Human

Humans are the race for which the world was made. They are of Average Strength and Intelligence, and a little taller than average. They have the greatest potential of all of the races, But often fall into the darker side of their existence, embracing greed and power. A Humans natural lifespan is about 70 years.

Elf

Elves originated in the Realm of Faery. They used to be ethereal beings, but this world made them mortal. They are among the top hunters of all of the races, being able to move through the forest without making a sound, and are impeccable with the bow. Some elves still possess magic powers, which can be of great strength, but most do not. The elves are the longest living of all of the mortal races, their natural lifespan being in the vicinity of 1000 years.

Dwarf

Dwarves are creatures who originated in the Realm of Purga. Short and Stalwart, Dwarves are miners, preferring to stay out of the light in caves and mines which lead deep into the earth. Their work makes them strong, and fuels their greed. Dwarves are generally not very adept at magic. They prefer battle-axes, and heavy swords to magic or bow. Loud and obnoxious, Dwarves have a considerably long lifespan considering their living conditions. Their natural lifespan is approximately 200 years.

Goblin

One of the worlds more misjudged of creatures, Goblin are short, similar in size to Dwarves. The are among the ugliest of the mortal races, and enjoy playing tricks on the other races. This has earned them a bad reputation as evil beings, although they are actually quite friendly, often showing lost travelers the way. Because of their reclusiveness, it is unknown how long Goblins live, but it is believed they live as long as Elves, approximately 1000 years.

Orc

Perhaps the meanest and only totally cruel of the Mortal races, Orcs tend to war. Because of this the darker forces that inhabit the lands have often called upon them. Due to of their relatively short natural lifespan, Orcs living around 30 years, they reproduce quickly. They generally can't use magic, and often lack skill in fighting, but their viciousness more than accounts for this. They have a very high threshold of pain, often loosing limbs in battle yet continuing on. Orcs originated in the Realm of Purga.

Centaur

Creatures which are human from the head to the waist, and horse from the waist below, centaurs are renowned for their cleverness. Generally speaking, centaurs prefer the woods and shy away from companionship; they are stereotypically wise, as well as great archers. Centaurs have very weak magick skills, but are very agile and strong.
Ethereal:
Note: The Ethereal Races are races which don't have a lifespan in mortal terms. They are more of an Essence than a life-form.

Nymph

Being among some of the worlds more popular of the Ethereal creatures, Nymphs tend to claim a spot for their own. Usually a spring or a grove, but can be any of the worlds physical features. This spot usually will adapt a heightened sense of magic in it's own right, amplifying the abilities of those who are near. Nymphs don't have a life span in the human sense of the word, being ethereal when they 'die' their essence returns to the earth, and eventually becomes part of another Nymph. Nymphs tend to be loners from each other and other races.

Fairy

Most people tend to think of Nymphs as Fairies or Vice versa, but they are two entirely different Races. Fairies tend to be drawn to Nymph's powers, and when you come across a Nymph's grove, it tends to be habited by Fairies. Fairies are small, winged, carefree creatures. They are often considered an annoyance by the other races, as they tend to be thieves of shiny objects. Fairies like to lay out in the sun and they are great in gardens, where they often help pollinate the flowers, in which they sleep. Fairies sometimes travel with other races, and can be trained to do tasks, the most common of which is the theft of coins.

Sprites

Sprites are much like Fairies but with a subtle difference. While Faires are playing, sprites are often working hard for mother nature. They help all of the beings of the world, whether it be squirrels and birds with nuts and nests, or Humans with cleaning. Sprites will not tend themselves to the dark side of life.

Elementals

A curious race of beings, Elementals are placed in the Ethereal category because they are, ‘more of an essence then a life form'. Created from the mating of energy and magick, these beings come in four forms: fire, water, wind and earth. Each elemental has near supreme control over their element and can occasionally be summoned to do the biddings of very powerful magicians.
Undead/Dead:
Note: The Undead races are an extension of Ethereal Races, but require special definition.

Ghosts

Ghosts are the essence of a man's life, trapped between this world and the next. Sometimes friendly and helpful, sometimes sad and lamented, and sometimes cruel and evil, ghosts take on the persona of the mortal it once was, as well as the essence of that person's death. Even the most malevolent of ghosts cannot hurt a mortal physically, but can destroy a person mentally, and often the power generated at a ghost's appearance will often attract darker monsters to the scene.

Zombie

Zombies are a special case. Beings whose body is the corpse of some formerly living being, but are in effect the absence of life. Zombies are raised from a master, usually a necromancer. They perform their master's will. Sometimes, through the darkest of magics, a zombie can be raised, and given life again, to roam on his own, making his own decisions.

Vampires

Vampires are formerly living beings, but cursed with eternal life. Although there are different species of vampire, generally they cannot be touched by the sun; avoid garlic, silver, and Holy Water; and can be killed by decapitation or a stake through the heart. Depending on the breed, one or more of these attributes may be false, and extra attributes may apply. Vampires border on the realm of demons, but are distinguished from them due to the fact that they were once mortal.
Immortal:
Note: Here Immortal means that they are unable to die. Other races through the use of magics can extend their lifespan greatly, even so long that they need not fear death from natural causes.

Angel

Generally considered to be the fairest race of all, Angels are in constant servitude to their god. Being from Eutopia, Angels are forbidden from directly interacting with the affairs of man. They can however step around this, by offering a mortal a guardianship, in which they serve the mortal, and not the god. However even then, they keep themselves shielded from the view of mortals, although often, other beings can see them.

Gods

Being among the beings who created the world, there are six gods worshipped by mortals. Named after their virtue they are known to man as: Mercy, Fate, Luck, Joy, Strength and Wisdom. And although there are other religions with other gods, generally each religion states that all power stems from these gods, as well as the weather and other aspects of the world.

Demon

Totally creul, demons exist as the embodiement of different types of evil. Demons are generally considered the 'soldiers' of devils, much in the same way that angels are considered the 'soldiers' of gods. The word demon encompasses such a vast amount of creatures, that there could be more types of demons in Hades than there are races on Pondera. There are thousands of lesser demons throughout Hades and Pondera.

Devils

Once members of Eutopia, they were banished for their evil ways. Devils are incredibly jealous of all that the Gods have given man. The evilest of all of the beings, all dark magics and hatred stems from devils. There are many of devils known to man; the two most well known are Malus and Abolitio, controlling hatred and destruction respectively.
